I really want to know who thought this was a marketable idea. If this was some air freshener like the ones you mount on your car's air vents then I'd be like "I could see the appeal of this" (in fact, now I'm wondering why this isn't a thing) but what difference does this make when most of the smell is going to be sandwiched between a couple chunks of metal and likely smell terrible if the CPU gets too hot?

I don't know - I don't think that's quite tacky enough. Almost there but there was some legitimate thought behind its design. I'd say this is a more likely customer: https://i.redd.it/fffbcwr76oj51.jpg This is much more half-assed and less coherent. Cable management here is worse, and the mouse pad is the cherry on top for tackiness. I could see this person's PC smelling like burnt strawberries.
