Well it's very personal, some like the smoothness some want better colors. I personally like 120-144hz more then better colors, i don't see a big difference anyway and i've had few IPS panels myself.

its all relative, do you want a faster response time with a higher refresh rate? or do you want a higher resolution with more vivid colours? those 2 simple questions dictate what kind of monitor you should buy. i dont like the look of this monitor... as mentioned before me that bezel is ugly as hell, the BenQ MLG monitors achieve the same goal (albeit 120hz instead of 144hz) and look significantly better - atleast in my opinion

120hz from 60hz is a great improvement 144hz is just marketing... and you need to lock 144fps good luck with that

I personally would never go back to using a TN-panel as they have appalling viewing angles, poor blacks that look purplish/bluish and generally dull washed out colours IMO. I ditched those five years ago and I do not regret it one bit. They're cheap and nasty in my view. I would love a 120 or 144 Hz monitor though but only if they use an IPS or even OLED panel.

Guru3d should review this monitor i want to see if its any good because philips in general is a good company in producs specially with there HDTV,s, personally i never go on a ips panel because they got ****ty respons times and terrible ghostings and even no 120 hz support, i cant use a 60 hz anymore it feels laggy and is not sharp anymore, compared to my samsung 120 hz screen.

Gaming monitors are gaming monitors. I doubt there will ever be a true multi-purpose monitor with 0 input lag and a decent resolution, and of course, NOT a TN panel. If someone made a true multi-purpose monitor with 120Hz and IPS (or better) and the right aspect ratio (1.6:1) then that someone has just lost out on 2 potential sales. This is the problem. 'they' probably could release a true multipurpose monitor, but then they would lose money on the various markets and price points that exist.

+1 i went from a 24" 1080p 60hz TN to a Korean 27" 1440p@96Hz and the difference is amazing.

Maybe I'm half-asleep, but I did not see anything about pricing... not announced as of yet? I wonder if this monitor will be as 'fast' as the BenQ XL-2420TE and the Asus VG248QE using LightBoost with a nVidia graphics card...This is an issue prob only important to serious 'FPS' gamers....but I am interested.

I recently got an Overlord Tempest X270OC, it's OC'd to 118Hz. 120Hz IPS screens should be mainstream soon, I can't stand using 60Hz or TN panels.

Meh, I have a hard time telling the difference between IPS and TN. So for me, 120Hz > slightly better colors. With that said, this product sounds like just another release of the same panel that's been on the market since February when Asus put it into their VG248QE.
