Clearly not for gaming with a refresh of 75Hz & a 4Ms response time, is this Philips monitor for media consumption or creators?

Clearly you are right, this is not a gaming screen. Second paragraph of Hilbert's post mentions it being focused on online meetings.

5K Ultra-wide is no joke in terms of power requirements to run. 75 Hz is perfectly fine for gaming. I notice a good improvement going from 60 to 75 Hz. Back in the day, a CRT running at 60 Hz was bad because of the flicker. Running you CRT at 75 Hz cleared that up.

People playing on this monitor would not care about being competitive. It's the experience. It's already something else on my 5120x1440p 49 inch super wide. And that's rather demanding.

What? HDMI 2.0 x 2, DisplayPort 1.4 x 1 ?

Hell even my 34" 3440x1440 is rather demanding. Thats a 30% more pixels to render than 16:9 1440p. A 12gb having a hard time coping with the demands in recent games.

Are you referring to a NVidia 3080 with 12GB? I upgraded recently from an Asus Rog Strix 3080 OC to a Suprim X 4090 and I was able to up my refresh rate to 180Hz (from 144Hz) on my Asus PG35VQ monitor, the 4090 really is a 'game changer'.

What is the pixel density on this monitor?

I think most would probably disagree that nowadays 75Hz is perfectly fine for non-competitive gaming. I had a 60Hz Dell IPS 1440 screen for 10 years but it was 'state of the art' for gaming in 2010 but was very happy to upgrade it to an Asus PG35VQ 200Hz screen in 2020. Sadly no OLED Ultrawides available in 2020. Playing games at 144Hz compared to 60Hz was a revelation tbh.

There's enough of a market for a presumably quite expensive monitor like this for 'online meetings'? No mention of a price but the resolution indicates a more expensive monitor.

Bad product design and placement in their range doesn't mean you have to look for a deeper meaning, although I get what you mean. I guess they just got their hands on some not as good panels (not fit for a gaming monitor yet better than the normal office one), and decided to try and get together something they can market to somebody. I can't tell, but I could imagine it's a product they came up with after realising they couldn't make them gaming monitors

88% of 4k and 109PPI

Sounds like a typical huge corporate and one of their 'crazy' product decisions. Bet it sinks like a lead balloon.

Yeah I absolutely agree, and it will probably sell like a turd wrapped in a news paper.

So true, i play some (older) games at that resolution and my 6950XT has to work for it. For modern titles i use 3440x1440 and even that is demanding as hell! I`m already whishing that i had a better card with more fire power... But more than that, what i would really like is for my screen to be HDR capable, it makes such a difference in some games.

More gpu power never hurt but 6950xt should handle 3440x1440 just fine even in modern tittles. Even my card is capable running latest games on the same resolution.

True but playing something like Cyberpunk at max settings, without RT, and my system can`t breach the magic 100 FPS barrier. Of course i can lower some settings but will that be enough for future games using nex gen game engines? Not that it matters that much, because this card has to last me the next 3/5 years anyway.

Id kill to have a 6950xt honestly. I dont even break 50 fps avg in the benchmark with high/ultra settings with no FSR. Thats with a 6800xt and 5120x1440 120hz

At that resolution you need a super card to run everything nice and smooth. My 6950xt would probably reach an average of between 60 to 70 fps and that would be it. You really need a monster card for that screen.
