Weren't the widgets already in Windows Vista?
I love the vista cpu meter when newer laptops lack the hdd activity light. How many of you actually run an analog clock on the desktop?

Personalized news and weather. Finally, some good use of the telemetry and data mining. Hurray! o_O Wait, that means more personalized ads! 😕 Good thing I use it only on production machines at work. At home, well, no thank you!

Widgets... Now, that's a name I haven't heard in a long time... A long time.
A new hope?

I never touched the widgets. I'm too old-school. Even now, running a tolerable 8/16 CPU, I'm still adverse to the idea of having anything in the background doing unnecessary things. Occasionally I look at the list of processes in the Task Manager and dream of getting rid of a bunch of them.

Windows 10. Don't remind me, I am still at work. Yeah, I need to use it, learn to manage it and all things related. Doesn't mean that I like it or I want to take iti home. Quite the contrary.

Insert knee-jerk, obligatory, random criticism of windows. [while using windows]

Im still in believe they should rather fix performance issue or boost performance in general on windows than pushing new features most people won't bother to use anyways.
You fail to grasp that "most people" that use Windows are not power users, tweakers, gamers, or enthusiasts. One of the number one type of apps on an android phone that users use the most now is a form of news app. This is why a lot of phones come with a built in news app whereby you swipe left to right on the home screen and a news app is already running customised to your interests. Microsoft are just following suite with Windows.

long as i can disable it i dont care, I never liked that stuff back when it was original a thing, and now that startmenu has live tiles, I have no need for widgets, hell the only title on the startmenu that is "live" is weather
