Pushing 4x300 Watt through the Motherboard Traces in 4-Way SLI/CrossFire would be quite a challenge ^^
SLI is pretty much dead already. It's mostly a gimmick for those who feel like they have more power with more cards...when in fact a lot of games run terribly with SLI and cards are powerful enough nowadays, it makes more sense to buy one top of the range card than 3 or 4 mid range. Why you'd ever need more than 1 top of the range is more about having more money than sense IMO SLI Has been dead for years really when you look at the stats. It's something a very small minority use.
The mix and match type is going to more or less explode in the coming 5 years.
Absolutely unequivocally not true at all. Proof? Source? I doubt you'll come up with any, pure speculation on your part (and a little uninformed as for the technical reasons why that will never happen)

That's all your opinion. I've always had good luck with SLI. As far "one card is enough", that's untrue as well, Unless you like playing with low settings, a single card is never powerful enough. Not even pascal titan x. People with 4k or 1440P 144hz know that a single card will never achieve it without sacrificing quality.

Actually, DX12 makes it very possible. In fact, it was possible several years ago. There is no technical reason why it will never happen, because it has happened. Lucid Logix proved it was possible to mix and match cards for multi-GPU rendering. What're "supplemental power connectors" supposed to be? Surely it's not referring to the power coming from the PSU directly? There's no reason why that couldn't be 2MW if somebody wanted a laser cannon inside their computer case. Neither the mobo nor the PCIe would know nothing of it. Yet it seems strange the mobo would have another power connector somehow connected to the video card if needed, but I guess it's not impossible, just not overly compatible with older mobos.
Supplemental power connectors are the PEG connectors that most of us are forced to use....

Nah that's simply not true. You're making it sound like it's something that will be mainstream, which it never will be and the technical issues that come with that are numerous. You're talking about something experimental There is absolutely no reason to even venture into mix & match in any case (which makes the entire discussion nul) when a single card is all you need. Mix & Match Won't happen. You say it's happened but it hasn't, not in the mainstream. Never will. DX12 also has absolutely no relevance. And yes, there are technical reasons why it will never happen in the mainstream but the main reason as said is it's redundant. It's an obsolete concept with no bearing on today's technology. You might want to research a little bit more next time......you never know who you're talking to and their knowledge.

Incorrect. It's not opinion, it's fact. Even at 4k, most games don't use SLI efficiently. The fact you say you've not had any issues merely suggests you've not played many games then. SLI profiles are often dodgy and make games run slower. You also are paying for another card, whos memory you can't even take advantage of since VRAM doesn't stack in SLI. It's far cheaper to go for the top of the range card, since if you can afford two high end cards, then you can clearly afford the top of the range Titan or 980ti Extreme or whatever. I've used SLI extensively in my profession and it's really very limited in the extra performance gain side of things. Often the limitation is related to driver issues but not only. Then there's the fact you're packing heat emitting cards next to each other in a tight space, the extra heat produced and the power requirements/usage. In the end, it's an outdated technology which was never much more than a gimmick (fact not opinion) and whos days are numbered. There are a few games that benefit from it sure, but those are very few and far between. Your "one card is enough is simply untrue" really made me laugh though. Thanks for that. Most of us get by very well with one card. Only people with more money than sense and who think it's somehow "cool" bother using SLI. I've never known a tech savvy, sensible gamer to ever bother with SLI after trying it once, since as I said, the benefits are very minimal and not worth the extra $, but again....if you have money but not much sense you probably buy heaps of crap you don't need. Some of us are a bit more sensible with our cash 🙂
