16:9 format curved monitors were and still are a mistake. It's fine to have them as a preference for some weirdos, but not offering both variants of each model is sacrilege!

There's a reason that VA panels are curved. At larger sizes like these, a flat panel would cause noticeable gamma shifting at the edge of the panels. Curved VA panels are not a style choice, they're a necessary evil.

Million to 1 static contrast? Yeah that's a complete lie. These panels will have 3-4K:1 static just like every other VA panel out there.

Thad DOES make sense, thanks for the info. How is this applicable though to large VA panel TVs which are flat instead of curved?

In 99% of cases, the viewing distance that people watch their TV from is going to mean a much narrower field of view than that of a monitor, so it's much less of an issue as the viewing angles of the edges aren't as steep. (IE sitting 2 feet from a 27in monitor is pretty reasonable, while sitting 4.8 feet from a 65in TV is pretty much unheard of, but both give the same FOV). Also, with a TV the only thing that's generally going to be displayed is movies/games/TV shows, and gamma shifting will be a little less of a distraction vs what some people use monitors for (graphics/office work/web browsing etc). Also, on the higher-end VA televisions, you have Samsung and Sony implementing wide-angle filters to help with the issue (at the expense of contrast).

the angle of incidence is less the farther away from the display you are, the gamma shift occurs most when the pixels are not facing your eyes directly, at close distance the path light has to travel from pixels on the edge is at a steep angle, curving the display mitigates this, at a farther viewing distance this angle is also reduced , so the curve is not needed.

Even the rest of the manufacturers like Aoc, Msi, Gigabyte are all using Samsung VA curved panels.

They are not that bad though. Very bright, deep blacks, no backlight bleed. @Netherwind bought expensive predator x34 IPS and compared to mine much cheaper gigabyte wq34 VA i think its not worth it.

Forgot to mention that I got mine replaced which has lot less bleed. IPS glow is visible due to the more pronounced curvature but it is how it is.

I have a 27" Odyssey G7 with that stupid aggressive curve, as the other fellow said, the curve is there for a reason; the viewing angles on VAs aren't great. Your brain adjusts to it over time anyway, then when you look at a flat monitor it ends up looking convex instead of flat...
