I just put it out there, but imagine there were no AI sanctions against the Chinese by the USA, and they would have made a 4080TI with those chips.

What I don't get is the goal of the sanctions. Sure, these cheaper models are slowing them down and costing them more to compensate for the slowness (on top of the additional tariff costs) but it's not slowing them down enough to stop them from reaching their goal. It's like being in a foot race where you slow down your opponents by putting chewing gum on the bottom of their shoes. Yeah, you're adding a little bit of drag for them, but if they're fast enough to warrant a need to sabotage them, there's a good chance they're going to cross the finish sooner than you'd like anyway.

Why should they make 4080Ti's from AD102 ? Nvidia make more profits if they use all defective AD102 chips for AI servers for China.

the sanctions dont mater, they still get hold of the stuff one way or another they already get 4090 threw black market and modifying them for AI. Spoiler: "What happens"
if China put sanctions on us dont allow stuff that manufactured there to states, how screwed would the USA be and people that leave there?

These days, yes. Used to be different. And sometimes I indulge in memberberries.

And what would the Chinese then do with hundreds of millions of unemployed? Same in the US, because who would need shop clerks when there's nothing to sell... in a globalized world, such an approach doesn't work without damaging both parties. Pretty much like nuclear weapons.

They would've just made RTX 6000s instead, this is not a down-cut chip for binning reasons, its a chip for regulation reasons.

Yes and no. They could have done a smaller AI chip for general sales as well, but what people obviously didn't get was that it was not fully serious as a comment. And with the argument of making next gen GPUs, I doubt that, since they earn more money selling AI chips than a 4090, and probably, a 5090. So no RTX cards either, more like the next Pro card first.

I hope they take notice of their own design here and put the 12V power connection on the front of the cards from now on.

Then people with SFF builds will complain about length. Poking out the backplate would be a solution, but then Rainbow Pukers will complain about ugly cable. So basically we need a wall adapter like the Voodoo 5 6000, or whatever ASUS is cooking up with that special slot on the motherboard.

not just SFF - mATX as well.

I think what the 3090 had is the best so overall angle.

my 2 cents... if Nvidia really cared about gamers or SFF enthusiasts (they don't), they would release the 4090m and 4080m as two slot AIB solutions. both would be well received and have fat margins. the sad fact is they are making more of these than 4080, 4070ti, or Supers as the mobile market is larger than the AIB market. they could even have a new marketing name to lessen the impact on the 4070ti and 4080

I m confused by the numbers. Is this the current generation or the next series of gpu? i don understand the 5000 and 6000 numbering
