So, miners make up at least 1/6 of Nvidia's sales. When you consider Nvidia's server, SoC, and automotive markets, that's actually quite large.

I think when you over price your product when a global economy decline is happening, this is the result. Limited stock at release didn't help either.

right now because of these lunkheads AIBs are taking it up the butt w/ sandpaper condoms. EVGA has had to reduce the 3090ti by one thousand dollars and there's no way that's not going to end up being written off as there is no $1k profit margin. which, if you want one right now ain't half bad but it speaks to the over production by Nvidia's third production run. they gambled and they lost right at a time when they're actually vulnerable (consumers actually have a strong second choice now)

Sound like accounts have been taking stupid pills.

Nvidia, can we see a comparison with a PRE-PANDEMIC year, please?

Serves them right, honestly. Hey nvidia, I'll take a 3090ti for $500 canadian right now if you want help getting rid of some inventory!

Almost 6 years ago I got my lovely 1080 card for about $500 (+EU tax, ignore that), and it was the fastest one can buy at the time ! Today a card that costs the same is barely 20% faster (the 3060) Don't care if cards which are 150% faster exist if they are also 200% more expensive. That is stagnation, or worse. ... and they are surprised Pikachu that sales are down. --- Give us $250 mid-range (-60), $400 mid-high (-70) and at max $600 top end (-80/90), and then it will feel like actual progress and real gamers will buy them without even blinking ! Oh btw, 85% of the previous max of ETH mining is STILL in operation... imagine if all that suddenly stops with the merge, or simply because a of a serious crash.

yeah greed is a tough cookie to swallow I knew it will bite them back, a lot. If they made this move 4-5months ago it would be a lot better, but no I want mooooarrrr xD

i'm actually still pissed off (as a stockholder). granted, i haven't bought any shares in the last five years but a good 10% of my retirement portfolio is with Nvidia. i re-upped my investment with Kepler based on lack of AMD's abilities at that point (and extrapolated for several years). but as of today it's down 15% and it's been bobbing an weaving for quite a bit. normally i don't pay any mind to it except to winnow out news of tech and spec but this was 100% weak sauce. i'm glad i have the confidence in their future product line but imho, i'm going to have to suck it up (buttercup) for a while.

meanwhile back at the ranch.... AMD has ordered a record (for them) number of wafers for gpu fab Nvidia has yet to feel the pain of a less expensive, higher performance, and more efficient GPU i'm not saying rdna 3 is "it", i'm saying Nvidia is playing with fire. AMD has all the momentum right now off of record earnings (also stockholder) and rdna 3 has really good numbers shipping to AIBs

Let's all pray to God that nVidia can battle through these trying times. 🙄

They just wanna buy as much time as possible before dropping 4000 series.

No wonder sales are bad. RTX 3060 still costs 500-600€ in stores here. It's absurd. This GPU should be like 200-250€ at this point in time 2 years after release (I mean price in stores for brand new one, not second hand dying card). But even if price drops to 200-250€ tomorrow, I don't think many will buy it. So many people are fed up with GPU market and just don't care. They don't even care to follow GPU prices. It was hopeless for them for 2 years+ and they stopped caring. As for 3080 and 3090 prices.... well yeah those have stabilized. But it doesn't matter any longer. All enthusiasts who wanted one already has one and are waiting for 4080/4090. So usually it's only entry/budget cards that still sell 2+ years in GPU generation, but now they don't, because of ridiculous prices in stores as I mentioned.

I will take 3090 for a fair price which is 300$ right now. Nvidia - you know where to find me. PM here. Otherwise, your tears are delicious.

Another thing that happened, I think, was that during the shortage, lots of people cooled their ardor and discovered their current GPU to have a lot of life left in it. Few people paid the ridiculous prices the scalpers were asking, so that with the decline of the mining fad (again) it definitely affects demand. I was ready to buy a 6800XT from the AMD Store back in Dec of 2020. I refused to pay the scalper prices, and the 6800XT is still not being sold by the AMD store today--so I finally bought a 6900XT from the AMD store at the original 2020 MSRP (held its price well), but in early 2022! I'll bet lots of people are waiting on RDNA 3, as well. I'm definitely going to wait and see about that...eating out of dumpsters is not any fun...;)

Aww, cant sell too miners anymore Nvidia?
