I'd say the more financially accessible 16XX cards helped.

@Hilbert Hagedoorn Q1 2020? :> I guess it must be a typo since I'm sure you don't have a crystal ball 😉

Do not confuse fiscal operating year with calendar year. State of California will start their 2020 fiscal operating year July 1 US Government starts their 2020 fiscal year October 1 Nvidia Fiscal operating year: Fiscal 20__ The Company’s fiscal year ended on the last Sunday in January of the stated year - so for them, 2020 will end the last Sunday of January 2020.

NVIDIAs Fiscal Years have always been very confusing, its like a full year ahead, and always prompts these questions. 🙂

It's probably more to do with finally getting on top of all the excess 1060 inventory they had left over from the mining boom.

Their mainstream products being released is helping them out.

Earnings were meh - not bad, but not great either. Beating heavily reduced estimates is no great feat, and their forecast was mostly in-line with expectations. The only real positive is that they've seemingly turned a corner on their GPU stockpile issue.

took me 7 months to save up enough for a decent 2080ti if I'm honest

Then you should be saving up and spending your money on more important things then a relatively cheap graphics card (by relatively, i mean compared to more important things in life, cars, houses, future, etc.)

Someone at Nvidia is taking the company's April's Fools jokes too seriously...and literally. 😀 Taken from the article: “Despite the near-term pause in demand from hyperscale customers, the application of AI continues to accelerate. AI adoption is accelerating in the world’s largest industries, moving beyond the cloud to the edge where AI processing has to be instantaneous. We’re excited about our pending acquisition of Mellanox, which will help us drive data center architecture for high performance computing and AI from the cloud to the edge,” 2017 April's fools video: [youtube=smM-Wdk2RLQ]

So everything goes down year to year with the end of GPU mining crazyness?
