Given the current competition state i don't see them giving us more performance for the same money anytime soon.. Anything more powerful than the 2080 ti will probably cost more, sadly.

With that clock speed and running on Win 10 Enterprise this is definitely a quadro or something like that. But this just means we're getting closer to something new for the home market, so good news.

Don't say that kind stuff, that's defeatist talk, and also unlikely to pan out like that. It's not acceptable for them as a brand to not offer meaningful performance increases for loads more money...and I think they've learned their lesson with the overpriced and under performing (relatively generation upon generation) Turing cards...they learnt their lesson with decreased sales and they probably realise their brand has not been particularly strengthened by the whole largely disappointing Turing reception. They won't want to do a repeat of that even if there is not AMD there to push them right to the limit. I think we can expect big performance increases from this next generation of cards, the fact that they are 7nm a process node reduction means that theoretically that the transistors are up to 4 times smaller than 14nm...but it depends on more than just the maths, it doesn't always scale like that as there are different ways of describing Xnm, they don't always take up the same "expected physical space". Yes, so they'll be able to fit loads more transistors/cores into the products for the same die size...which should also decrease cost per transistor/core...which should mean a big performance jump for the same price when compared to our current Turing. I'm predicting a 55-80% performance increase for this first generation on 7nm from NVidia.

In a similar fashion to CPUs, multiple chip modules can be the saving grace for the GPU's.

You don't know if they've learned their lesson. This generation will tell you if they did, you can't say they did if they haven't outed this gen because they made the mistake with Turing. I'm all about that performance, especially when it comes to cuda cores cause as a vfx artist i use those thingies, but given their history you're right, i have lost all high expectations. The only thing that will make a change in my mind if is amd pulls a ryzen on their gpus.

Finally it started and AMD big Navi.. took both long enough. 😀

What if nvidia have been doing us like intel and just releasing a slight performance bump for extra cash until competition catches up but then looking at shader counts n memory sizes they are about to do a Ryzen and raise the bar more than ever.... However it goes with intels gpu in the mix too there's definitely some fun times ahead

That's exactly what they have done for years now.

All the factors point to that, besides all this coronavirus is nothing more than just a typical seasonal virus which causes deaths across the globe every year. But due to all the hype and media coverage, we get this. Hence, it's all staged. And even if Nvidia won't be "impacted" by the virus, I'm sure they will find a reason to do so on par with other manufacturers.

Sure thing. It's just like flu, right? Except death rate is about 100 times higher. It's nothing, right? Except China closed down entire cities deeply impacting their economy. Oh right, it's all just a conspiracy, China WANTED to destroy their economy... Do you even listen to absolute drivel and nonsense that you spout? Let's see if you still think it's nothing when virus is in your neighborhood.

right. how some people take this lightly, is beyond my understanding. Hey its just another flu . lets not worry... enjoy the life to the fullest... lets party ... lets travel all over the damn globe... The thing is, it might have less death rate than SARS , but it is a whole new level infectious. And in a short study, every third patient who got admitted to the hospital for this, developed ARDS ( which is bad).

I don't know... If I remember correctly when Nvidia went from Maxwell to Pascal it was a big leap in performance and no competition for them - AMD practically was non existent and still they innovated and Pascal wiped the floor with Maxwell (architecture terms of course...;)) Nvidia is a different animal than Intel... This rumor anyway is probably YAMSY (Yet Another Marketing Strategy...)

Nah. Every new Nvidia GPU generation raised the performance well enough. It's nothing like Intel's pure cosmetic approach. What made Turing different is that it concentrated on raytracing. It was still performance, just not what most people were expecting, and as a first generation product it didn't quite live up to what Nvidia promised in practice. Personally I wouldn't have minded Turing, it was just the price that was very unpleasant. I hope with Ampere I could eye 3060 instead of x070, which would help with that. I don't expect Nvidia to lower their prices, after all.

SARS had a 60% mortality rate... hence why it killed itself out of existence in terms of spreading widely. This new Corona virus only has a mortality rate of about 2%.... hence why it is much easier to spread. TBH i'm not sure yet if the hysterics & media over-hyping of this is over the top or not. In my country, one kid came back from northern Italy with the virus, and now they have shut down his entire school for two weeks.
