Interesting is how this 1060 actually reminds me of 660. Make sure you are looking at the 6GB ver and its pricing.
It's the memory bus. :P

660 was fine for the games of it´s time bro, the 950 and 960 on the other hand were lame, you should watch me trying to play mxgp2 and the technomancer, solid 60fps when it´s not heavily skipping or stuttering due to the ancient buffer 😛uke2: And too bad that stores outside USA are gonna slap premium prices on the 6gb 1060 just because "nvidia sells".

oh if i grab it, it the 6gb version 8 gb would been better imo, but atlest its not other 128bit bus like they been doing lately. if price really is about 259$ even better. seeing as i still 1080p 1440p still not happen thing let alone 4k, seeing I wont get another monitor till this one dies or G-Sync premium drops alot..

This so much... I hope there will be shorter 1060's too... if they could have a model the same length as a GTX460 that would be nice.

dont know but this the card i been waiting for sadly the other reason i was waiting for pascal was HBM2 card which isnt happen and neither is GDDR5X, maybe next series? then again less AMD start puting that in all there cards nvidia will probably just keep HBM2 to there higher end cards which i will never buy. Nvidia dont do things less they have too like Intel only diffrence Nvidia cards tend show more performance gains comapred to Intel cpu from gen to gen

Over here, 8GB variant of 480 costs around 310€, which is more or less $340 - way more than $219. GTX 970 with factory OC and non-reference cooler is 290€ / $320. With these prices, NV doesn't even need 1060 to compete. Ok, you get 8GB vs 3.5GB RAM, but the card is noisy, and non-reference ones will cost even more. Once 1060 is released, I can't see 480 being a viable option unless prices are heavily reduced. I'm pretty disappointed. Yeah, such diagrams should always start at 0
Already appeared for 1282 zl; (285 €). I hope that is not the end price. https://www.morele.net/karta-graficzna-sapphire-sapphire-radeon-rx-480-8192-mb-gddr5-21260-00-20g-933932/

I'm still going for the 1070. Hopefully in a year or two when I'm ready to upgrade the price will be down around the 10,000NT range.

If you look at that tiny 1070 then i'm pretty sure we'll see an even smaller 1060. A 3gb 1060 could be tiny and cheap and still make a great powerful small form factor system for any living room.

Very interested in this, if Nvidia delivers and it actually performs at 980 levels it's a definite winner. Was quite a bit disappointed with the rx 480, roughly 970 performance and more expensive in the EU...

how? by the time you get to the point where you need 2gb more vram (4K-DSR/ high AA/AF), the card will run out power to deliver fps. i mean i dont mind running certain games at below 60fps (even without gsync), but a sub 30fps slideshow?

I'd say 6gb is the sweet spot right now but people with little money to spend on these things think about future proofing and i'd say its correct that 6gb won't be the sweet spot for long. Some games will use around 6gb now but that's not really how things work anymore. A game will just use what it's got like my 4gb 980 only uses about 2800 in GTA-5 @1200p but it'll creep up over time while playing. It will be really interesting to see 1060 3 vs 6gb and i'll bet that @1080p the cards will perform the same. The 6gb card will pull ahead in 1440p but the GPU will be insufficient @ those higher rezzes anyway so it's questionable why you would even need two versions. I suppose the 6gb version will be better future proofed but again anything over 1200p will be a struggle for these 1060 cards.

I would not buy a 3GB at this point, even for 1080p. My 280X 3GB is cutting really close this days. People should be looking at 6GB version only and its pricing. Maybe its just me but somehow this GP106 dosnt look interesting at all. 3GB = not enough vram 6GB= bandwitdh starving 380X was a bandwidth starving card compared to 280X (256vs384) noticable in many games, performing similiar or in some cases even slower. After 1070/1080 looking to be another bare bones cut down chip like 960 was. Imo custom Strix RX480 8GB is so much better choice, dont you think? 😀

Um pretty sure the fact it's an Nvidia card is a turn off for you. This card COULD be priced at $250 for the 6GB card be as fast as the 980 and you would still say it's not worth it.

Hehe. Some truth in there somewhere.

Nah i wouldn't buy a 3gb 1060 for gaming either but i meant if they do a small version then it'll be really good for a small form factor PC for my living room.

if 1060 6gb version gonna be selling at the half price of the cheapest gtx1080 will be a prophecy, is gonna sell like bottles of water, RX480 will be nothing soon, so let us see.

I wouldn't go that far.

Half the price of 1080 is 300$ (at best, KFA2?) It dosnt sound very appealing to me. Bottles of water, what a silly guy. 😀

Yes, same is also true for RX 480, it's not powerful enough to have actual use for 8GB anyway.

192bit is the reason for 3 and 6, but 3 should not exist in a world like this, unless it's super cheap which it won't be. I think 1060 will bury RX480 alive, with the PCI Express slot issues it does not making any favor, even if 1060 will be 10% faster but 20% more expensive, people will buy it over RX480, giving nvidia amazing reputation amoung high end cards.
