I wonder if the automotive results are down because of fewer units sold in Q1, or that nVidia are simply losing to other solutions...

Or all automotive is in recession because lock down stopped everyone buying new cars.

Car sales plummeted, but automotive isn't down 40-70% at nVidia, just 7% compared to Q1 last year. And car manufacturers are still very busy developing new car models that should nearly all have some optional autonomous driving tech in them at this point...

Still developing models but probably forecasting a worse outlook due to the virus. I doubt the Q1 sales for Nvidia are sold cars - but modules going into future production. If Volvo/Lexus, etc are sitting here going "we expect to not sell as many cars throughout this year due to a rougher economy" perhaps they simply just adjusted their contracts in anticipation for that. Also the Ampere based automotive models were announced a little while ago now. Perhaps they are just waiting for those to hit availability. I imagine the car companies work closely with Nvidia as most of them use Nvidia's entire self-driving stack.
