Why would 1060 differ from 1070/1080? If the others need an SLI bridge GP106 will need it too.

Maybe it's gonna be cheap and efficient so Nvidia doesnt want 2 cheap cards surpass the more expensive 1080 by any means necessary.

Who knows? Maybe Nvidia doesn't need/want to promote the 1060 in SLI as a single AMD high end GPU "killer". Nvidia PR clearly identified the 1060 competition in the leaked slide: "Much faster than a RX 480". http://i.imgur.com/lQg2SIt.jpg

Nvidia is being worse with those slides than AMD, lol. Seems like this 192bit/3GB card is a BEAST! 😀

Hilbert, fight with this plague, it is "photos", not "photo's". I'm not english native speaker but mistakes on such basic things irritate me as f...

True. The bars are HUGE. LOL But...I can't say which PR BS slides is the clear winner: "AMD 51%...151%" VS "Nvidia impossible X Axis distortion". :D

Probably this if true, Nvidia forcing people to buy slightly more expensive cards so they get the performance. Making more money, coincidentally 😉:D

Willing to bet gp106 will be significantly smaller than Polaris 10. Remember glofo is around 10% smaller than tsmc; so 314mm gp104 is around 280mm in glofo terms. I believe nvidia will have higher margins on their midrange
Uhm yeah I can imagine, not that familiar with the differences between GloFo and TSMC. But does that have to do something with SLI compatability?

@sammarbella those graphs are criminal.

Not mine, the leaked slide is from "that forbidden site in here...". I know you can decipher which is. 😀

If this is true, then im done with Nvidia. They're taking the mickey now. If true then this is beyond appalling. They charge an arm and a leg for their cards and now they're turning a feature thats been the norm for over a decade into a premium model only feature.

Every time a person asks "Should I go 960 SLI or a single 970" the answer is "Single more powerful GPU every time". So I see no reason for the 1060 to support SLI, none at all. You want more performance, 1070 will be the better choice since 2x1060 will most likely be more expensive than a single 1070 (or roughly the same price) and will work better only in less than 10% of the titles. So if removing the SLI support from 1060 will reduce the price even by 1$, I'm happy.

But what about the price? Asus Gtx 1060 8GB (?)=472-499 Euro? :O Hard to believe.I know Nvidia=Apple=Intel=Premium price, but what the heck! videocardz(.)com/61826/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1060-rumors-part-2 Maybe 3GB dont suport SLI.IF 6GB version will not support SLI then will be big mistake.

2 positive things are gonna happen finally for our sake and overall wellness: i) cheaper 1060 (3/6) because the less circuits needed for Mgpu support. ii) finally you should realise that the correct way to go with is buying the best GPU you can afford and if it's not powerful enough then you go for SLI/CF. there is no point after all, if vega (small or huge) / (big or bigger) pascal are not enough that kind of gpu's tier you should amplify their power through Mgpu.

Indeed 2 midrange cards have always been garbage compared to 1 high-end. But 2x 1060 should proly be compared to 1080. Because SLI-ed would be close to GTX 1080 in performance, while slightly undercutting its price. GTX 1060 6GB: MSRP: $259-279 Performance: ~ GTX 980 TDP: 100-120W

Multi-GPU is such a hassle anyway. Nothing I see seems to say it's improved much in the time since I had 8800s in SLI...

250-270$ could be a good price for a Reference card. What about custom cards? ~300$? Maybe 2xGtx 1060=Gtx 1080.Maybe thats why nvidia dont wanna support SLI for this card.

Yeah, 2x1060=1080, we heard the same about 2x480 but in the end it turned out to be slightly better than 1070 in a few titles. It will be exactly the same for the 1060, SLIed would be more powerful than 1070 in way too few titles to be actually worth considering. Same as 1080, maybe in Firestrike but that's about it. At least that's my opinion.

And if you buy 2 at launch they'll probably cost more combined than a single 1070 or even 1080. So why would you ever do that? When the need for more power than it delivers arises, it'll probably be outperformed by some other much better priced new contender, like RX 485 or 1060Ti... So, SLI, kind of dead, these days.
