"According to current currency rates, your Ryzen 5950x generates approximately $5.40 per day, whereas the Ryzen 5950X generates approximately $4.50 per day." Seriously?! That's it?! Better to just scalp GPUs instead! Some peeps are bad at speculation!

Just embrace it and mine guys. Been mining on my 3080 since I bought it.. paid for the card 6x over again, now it pays for my motorcycle payments. My bike gets like twice the MPG over my car and I commute with it.. so I'm basically green through mining now or something lol

The problem is not mining but ABUSE of mining... And lamb people abuse of everything until they cry when they lost... Lamb is the best friend of the Wolf until he eat it 🙂

If you consider the kind of money organised crime is handling annually around the world (a trillion dollars would be a very conservative guess) and how stupid looking old school pyramid schemes even in small countries have allowed the culprits to make millions, it's quite easy to understand how crypto can flourish. What is more surprising is that Western countries are doing absolutely nothing about it. I wasn't following the Glasgow climate conference at all, but I'd be surprised if the leaders attending actually talked about crypto at all, even though it would make a nice, quick sacrificial pawn. If you think about it, the Covid-19 was a lottery win for crypto miners because it has robbed so much of governments' attention, plus with people stuck home or with no money spent in travelling abroad, I imagine quite a few more actually decided to invest in crypto.
I have a feeling that many politicians and friends already have their greasy pawns on cryptos and that´s why they are being silent about it at the same time they all shout about how we have to save the planet and all the BS talk... Quite frankly, i wouldn´t be surprised if those same politicians are already preparing a legal framework for cryptos so they can cash in even more... I hope i´m completly wrong about the last sentence... P.S. i´m really considering getting a Nintendo Switch, i wonder if maybe i should do it in order to antecipate any other future supply chains problems...

I've mined 1 full ETH coin since Feb.

There goes my Ryzen 3D then, with its 128MB cache.
my first thought too

I wouldn't worry from what can tell so far profits are tanking cause difficulty is ramping due to amount new miners joining. Basically will even out can't see miners buying 1k+ cpu's for over 1 year return, at present it's quite high return due to bull run.

That's what i said a long time ago about Bitcoin. Then like many others i missed the train. BTW still don't get why government doesn't regulate crypto. I guess they all want to make a few busks before doing so. Not being able to buy a computer will eventually create an issue when the current ones will stop working.

Would give crypto legitimacy, further boosting mass adoption. Better to treat it like it doesn't exist.

This so bad and sad news at the same time , like really wtf !!! If this takes off and the world governments dont do nothing about it , they are guilty just by not doing anything about it when it goes out of hand. They need to intervene asap and control , put some regulations on this or just plain make it illegal as this does not help at all with the climate change , sooo much wasted electricity wasted on this tiny blue globe , it is sad, very sad. I am always wondering who makes up this shitty way making fake money , who invented this and why ? Also who , where and how this new mining xxxx whatever called coin to be profitable only on cpus with big cache. Who made it and who is reponsible for make it going public as that's the persons who really we should be looking at. Lots of questions but we will never know the answer 😏 , it would not surprise me a bit the hardware companies like amd , intel , nvidia , etc... are behind all this madness. We are living in a crazy world right now , no need to physically work or get out of bed to make money , just mine on hardware and make fake money without lifting a finger 🙄 . This is my opinion and only mine.

It's the developers they trying come up with new ways of making a new crypto coin, but with different requirements they trying push out anything ASIC. Idea is pick something everyone has access to, which isn't specialized like ASIC, HDD's CPU's GPU's etc. Big cache cpu's like server cpu's difficult for ASIC to built for the task.

If only crypto mining could vanish from the face of the earth. It's one of many thing that humanity should "unlearn".

Greed has no boundaries. That and organized crime. All we can do is push our governments to act, this is not only bad for the environment but also for the economy. Why? Because many companies depend on being able to buy the hardware we gamers can't also buy. And they need it to make things from toilets to air plane parts. Everything is getting more expensive at the cost of not enough GPUs, and people are failing to see that.
data/avatar/default/avatar31.webp
how much a tiny number of people can effect millions is just disgraceful, There is no effort to stop these people from AMD or Nvidia and these cards that only work for mining needs to end its just more waste going to landfill .

How long before we put crypto to bed, we're on an energy crisis and we can't find anything more than wasting it to zero productive value to generate hashes and cryptos?! This is totally insane. We do'nt have energy to waste on this crap. You can't regulate crypto, that's almost the point of it. @MonstroMart We're just living in a world where everyone is jumping on crypto until large companies evade taxes using it and our governement can't pay for education, elderly, infrasctructures. This is the most desperate fantasy of modern time.

The problem with mining is that it increases the cost of entry to mine for profit, but even worse, the point of entry into the pc video gaming hobby, regardless of wanting to mine or not. A sad world where you need to mine to finance your hobby tbh.

If mining would affect gaming only it would not be an issue. But GPUs and computers as a whole are used for much much much more than that. It's used by engineers (me), scientists, medical researchers, architects, ... using silicon to mine a "currency" mostly used as speculative investments is just crazy.

Agree, and if the electricity is produced cleanly i see zero issues. How about before we go after miners we go after the weapon manufacturers that have caused the murder of millions? no? ok cool.
