Well yeah its a gaming brand, just like by Gigabyte Sniper Series or ECS with Gank L337 series (wccf tech review), Asus with Rog, etc.. And from what i saw these newer MSI boards are quite solid, dunno why you all hate them xD

They also tend to come with the newer ALC1150 audio, which includes a semi-decent headphone AMP. A lot of other brands selling comparable products skip this, and while for people like myself it's useless, it's a big jump over most other onboard. My only gripe is the KILLER NIC, I'd happily buy an MSI motherboard if not for that.

yes, funny how intel milks its chipsets even though Z87 will be compatible with Haswell refresh and looks like Broadwell too. Although I see their point, they need to make the market going.. But what's funnier most tech sites claim Haswell refresh wont be compatible with Z87 nvm Broadwell.. They all take that vr-zone slide for granted, while Intel PR/CEO said Broadwell will be compatible with existing systems Z87 and brand new systems Z97, fail ๐Ÿ˜€
THAT right there is awesome news! I actually thought that Z87 did NOT support haswell refresh and certainly NOT broadwell. Great news, though things can change for broadwell as its still a way off but nice to know haswell refresh will be compatible. If they sort out the temp issues like the ones current haswells suffer I might sell my 4770K ๐Ÿ™‚

What's wrong will killer nic? I have an msi gd65 gaming and the killer nic is excellent. I don't use the software with it at all, don't even run the software to be honest as it does nothing to bandwidth only lets you manage what apps get more priority.

Subbed! This may be just what I'm looking for in an IO shield. My last IO shield was very disappointing tbh. ๐Ÿ˜€

Yes, your mobo is already supported.. MSI was the first announce it, 2nd Asus, 3rd Gigabyte and now Asrock & Evga. http://www.msi.com/news/1664.html I already updated mine, IME (management engine fw) & EC fw got updated, dunno whats EC though. About Broadwell, it will have similar microcode as this newer Haswell -refresh., so Im pretty sure it will be the same for Z87, another microcode update and that's it. intel CEO/PR http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=KeDtXucTwRI#t=20 IVR is the same like by current haswells and looks like Broadwell too. http://www.anandtech.com/show/7744/intel-reveals-new-haswell-details-at-isscc-2014
Intel also shared some data on how it achieved substantial power savings with Haswell, including using a new stacked power gate for the memory interface that reduced leakage by 100x over Ivy Bridge. Haswell's FIVR (Full Integrated Voltage Regulator) is also a topic of discussion in Intel's ISSCC papers. FIVR ends up being 90% efficient under load and can enter/exit sleep in 0.32ยตs, requiring only 0.1ยตs to ramp up to turbo frequencies.
I doubt they will move that out of cpu, its looks to efficient now..
