agree^ and I like the way nvidia went 1060 to 1060+ instead of diff#...
and the fact that nvidia went from maxwell to pascal so fast gives them a huge lead...nvidia ain't no joke.

I expected much more out of the memory but this card really isn't bandwidth starved.

while nvidia has held the crown for a long time lets not forget the past (Tesla) GTX8800/9800/GTX 280....I was so proud of my $180 hd4890 I could swear nvidia would never catch up.../ I was wrong.
Nuff Said about the past.....I just wan't a 980ti...:D

So i'm very confused by your statement, both of them.
Um...what? I'm confused by your post, since you included the GTX 8800, which was one of the more important beast cards there were.
And honestly, i don't recall nvidia ever "needing to catch up"
and the Radeon HD 4890 release price was $250, so you must have gotten it a bit after it was released?
And the 4890 at $250 would have gone up against the GTX 275, of which those cards traded blows back and forth with eachother, sometimes by a lot, sometimes by very little

Safe to flash bios onto a regular 1060 Gaming X?
Hi,
Was wondering if its safe to flash the firmware from a 1060 X+ onto a regular X rated 1060? Also you guys know what are the kind of ram modules the X+ uses? Samsung? Anyone know the model number of the ram modules as well?
Thanks.

It's actually GTX 1060 Gaming X Plus, not GTX 1060 Plus, so it's actually an MSI thing. MSI also sells an RX 580 Gaming X Plus, which has a bigger heatsink similar to the GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X.

I bought several of the MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X+ 6G graphics cards. I tried Ethereum mining. They did 21.2 on Max OC settings. Just to give you an idea of what I can do, an older GTX 1060 6GB card from another manufacturer I can sustain 25.4 MH/s, so yeah, I know what I'm doing. IF the ZEC EWBF miner didnt crash maybe id mine ZEC because at least in that miner i can get halfway decent performance. Somebody on the Nvidia developer forums was talking about how the latency parameters or the quad data rate operations are wrong in bios, but the CUDA DDR operations work fine. I don't know what's going on, but it seems like this is a new memory controller that was built for the GDDR5X, but they used it with the old GDDR5, resulting in a performance loss of over 15% on most CUDA QDR memory operations... I could be completely wrong, but apparently this is the same problem plaguing the GTX 1080 cards for performance.

they suck
In other words, I own a bunch of these, I regret my purchase, they're getting returned, so unless you want to gamble with your hard earned money, wait for the jerks to fix the memory bugs that make it worse that older models.
