Are they? What about the bios being too small (16MB) on 3xx-series mainboards? That was their go to excuse years ago (or just bad design decisions). I'm not expecting anything for my B350 PC Mate, but hope to be surprised.

I'm guessing they might remove earlier gens

That might be a possibility. I would like to have an updated AGESA for my MSI board (it is a secondary system with 2700X, B350 PC Mate, 32GB DDR4 3200, RX580 4GB, Win 11) because lately I'm having the dreaded fTPM stutters. Audio also stutters, but can be fixed by disabling fTPM, but the problem wasn't there months ago or at the launch of W11. Some games became unplayable for me on this system because of the stutters (FH5, Two Point Hospital, Civ 6...). My main system (5600X, Gigabyte B550 Pro AC with latest beta bios AGESA V2 1.2.0.6B, 64GB DDR4 3600, Vega56) doesn't have stutter issues, but Gigabyte has its own quirks. And my MSI has random USB disconnects, especially USB3 problems. Had an USB3 6TB HDD, but got annoyed by the random disconnects and shucked the drive and put it inside the rig.

Shut down the TMP check at windows boot with regedit then disable it in bios and/or wait for the agesa V2 1.2.0.6b or c depending on the brand (worked on my 1600 with my A320 on Windows 11). Most A320 and B350 will have this update pretty soon.

Regarding USB disconnects for HDD drives, I had that issue till I realized the motherboard has a option to add additional voltage to the USB. I was using front panel USB 3.0 for my external drives and it needed +0.1V to be stable in all but one USB where it needed +0.2V. In my case, its a Gigabyte X370 gaming 5. My guess is that the motherboard has not the best control on USB voltages. Since I updated to the latest bios however, the problem has been mostly gone (I had disconnects also in other devices like mouse or microphone, all USB. It was like once per 3 months but at least for now it seems gone).

Yes indeed, I did just that when I got a 1600 before the 2700X. Might as well do it now for the time being. Since getting the 2700X I just did a clean install without the registry hacks. Good one.

Quite interesting. I might check upon that. But the external USB3 HDD was a powered WD Elements 6TB. I don't have it as much as a few weeks ago, but when USB disconnects really everything disconnects, even USB2.0. Rendering my KB&M useless. 😀 The problems went away mostly after shucking the HDD and putting it inside the PC. If 5xxx support comes, I might get a 5700G since the board is only PCI-e 3.0 (and the APU as well, so no loss there). I don't game as much anymore on this PC. Might as well use the RX580 elsewhere.

Hmm I wonder if the USB controller was overheating with the load the HDD was putting on it , or was just unable to reliable feed the power needed.

That might be, but other self powered USB3 HDD's or flash drives are working just fine on both front and back USB3 ports. Oh well, somehow the problem resolved itself mostly. I hope for a new bios to fix my stutter issues, but tbh I don't count on it. But AMD + USB3 is a special thing. My MSI B350 PC Mate has AGESA 1.0.0.6 which is ancient. I actually like this board. This board coupled with a 1600 was my first stepping stone towards Ryzen. Got the board and CPU like a year ago from a friend. I was still rocking an FX-8350, 32GB DDR3. What I'm running now is a 2700X, 32GB and the main rig consisting of a 5600X, 64GB. That free board+CPU sparked my HW interest again. Gotta love fiddling with stuff. 😀

@Keitosha when I was plugging both a USB Bluetooth + flash drive on the front USB 3 ports I was getting disconnects my self switching the Bluetooth dongle to USB2 front header resolved that, it is not something I paid much attention , I just directly assumed the USB power delivery was overwhelmed . Anyway waiting for 4 of April see the prices of the new skus my self and make the decision of my next CPU my self 😛 , I am still on Ryzen 1600 😛

I mean, I had also USB disconnects that went away with a clean install (win7). BUT, it could also be more up to date chipset drivers, hard to tell to be honest. With USB isues you can only tell if they happen often enough that you can actually see the change. In my case it was not often enough.
