Sounds like the 8670 would be a very nice better value option when paired with a cheaper non-overclocking mobo for gaming. And if it remains as a 6-core with HT, that'll still be more than adequate for productivity. Even the 8600T would do fine if it remains as a 6-core. I'm keeping a lookout for this combination when it comes out over the course of time as frankly I don't need an 8700K or overclocking even though I have done so before in the past. So far so good for coffee lake.
