What about non-Windows-native updater tools, like WSUS offline? Are their functionality also crippled?

Pffft. I'll just keep using the update packs, as im doing since 2010..

This just tell us how failed windows 10 version is..
Not really.. it just means that there is no money to be made from users insistent on remaining on 7/8. Win 10 is intended to be MS new cash cow. When 7 was released years ago, MS was similarly trying to get people off XP. Did that mean 7 was a fail when so many were still on XP back then?

Also I saw a Jayztwocents video where I saw him try to install Windows 8.1 on a Kaby Lake system and he got a few BSODs during the instillation process but he got it working though. He said that it wasn't officially supported by MS. So i'm not too surprised by this move by MS.

i dont recall them releasing an update that blocked updates lmfao this isnt a compatibility issue, this is a win10 spyware strongarm issue. this is also an indefensible move by any metric...

True on MS not blocking updates for XP users back when 7 was brand new but the new current cpus are not officially supported by MS under Windows 7/8.1. So you are using Windows 7 or 8.1 under your own risk.

Still waiting on customize install M$. Don't give me all your bloatware.

quite a large leap from your statement, which is 100% valid ofc...to wats actually being done. this isnt a disclaimer in the wupdate gui warning that perhaps something wont install correctly in the future. this is an applet that blocks compatible updates from installing in the first place. let me just remind any readers who might take issue with the harshness of my statement that, well, win7 installs & runs more or less successfully on a 20 year old pentium 2 chip &, besides the horsepower issue & obvious lack of extensions/instructions, there is no compatibility problem.

Yes i can confirm this ****! I was running my new rig without any problem when this **** started to pop up! Really disappointed with MS crap. I can understand not providing optimization patches to PCs with newer CPUs but blocking updates to people who paid for their products just because they want to force them to move to W10 is just too much!!! But who knows, maybe i will really move from W7... to Linux! **** you MS!!! P.S. Hilbert do you think you can add a compatibility rate/score for how products work under Linux??? I know this is too much to ask but the way things are going i really have to consider other alternatives...

Ah, W7 users are so salty. 😀 Update the damn thing already.

i don't know about virtualbox, but in vmware windows update still works fine, even if it's blocked on the host. -andy-

Yes, it is failed: people buying new CPU's are smart enough to prefer W7 and Micro$oft has to force the transition blocking updates. My very old Pentium 4 is running W7 no problem and my i5 will be using it for some time longer.

Maybe someone makes an English ISO of the Chinese version?

Just do what everyone else does: >Go to your preferred torrent site >Download latest W7 >Use your key to activate >Block updates >Download the packs from Micro$oft website

I did, for 6 months I used that BS on my laptop and desktop. I felt relieved when I reinstalled W7.

DX12 isn't the messiah they preached about (at least not for now) and Vulcan works on W7. F** Micro$oft.

MicroShaft do it again trying to force their failures onto their customers...****ers.

This. Ive got three gaming rigs, a HTPC and two laptops on W10 and they are by far the most stable platforms ive had. Ive still got a laptop (HTPC) on W7 as W10 doesnt support 4k via HDMI for the onboard AMD chip. When Xp came out, those lame comments about 2000 and ME and DOS, smae when Vista and then W7, too many people living in nostalgia land.

It's not so much about nostalgia but the fact you're not moving to something better. Some people like you might adapt but others not so much. Vista was a load of crap, same as W10.

Says someone still running 7 because something doesnt work on 10.. Lol Once the gui isnt looking like the os is 10y old, and I can use an admin account without being asked 1000 times to confirm something when working on it, and audio with dedicated card works, ill go back to 10..
