I have always wanted something like this, maybe a "performance profile" in the power management settings. If you enable it, it sets the CPU to high performance, and turns off all the unwanted background processes and services you dont need when gaming.
Always thought Microsoft would make a killing if they just released a version of Windows 10 as the "Gamer version".
We have Home, Pro, Ultimate, etc why not have a Windows 10 Gamer Edition. Where it comes without all the stupid processes and tasks that run seemingly whenever they want to in the background.

They'll never release a gamer windows version because disabling all that stuff does almost nothing. There are applications that do it now - run A/B benchmarks with it, the difference is within margin of error. I personally used to do all that black viper guide nonsense + was really careful about background apps and whatnot, until I realized that it literally does nothing for performance. It would be absolutely pointless for Microsoft to support an entirely different SKU for that.
And then you alt tab to go do something between games and you're like "oh yeah, everything is disabled and I can't do anything productive at all".

Sure as hell hope it's not exclusive to only UWL. But then again i doubt it will make much of a difference, my resources already are 99% free mostly , API level changes barely do any changes these days, can't see disabling some processes or setting some priorities to real time , helping.
Unless it's something more than that.

Maybe it'll help stop windows deciding it wants to download an update during a gaming session clogging up the internet session then.... I've had to go into the group policy settings to set windows update to notify and the lan connection to a "metered" connection.
Windows 10 is awful if you have a **** slow internet connection if you're wanting to do any internet related tasks since it decides to update whenever it wants/needs to.

Well, another year has passed. I would still like Killer Instinct and Forza Motorsport. Otherwise, not much else to entice me tbh. However, I will be testing it this year at some point.

I would like to see OS lock as part of this to stop system from getting hacked while gaming.

Well, I just bought Forza 3 and ffs, this is only game that bsods, random restarts, or "run of out memory" every hour.
Maybe that update will fix it...?
MS product, ms system...geez...
And their dx12?...pointless to add anything...
So much hope, so much hype, and all we got was same story as Vista and dx10...

To those who doubt Windows 10 is THE operating system foe gaming currently - well, it is.
I stubbornly refused to move on from Win 7 but eventually gave in as I wanted to try DX12. DX12 is pointless at the moment, but suddenly I was getting MUCH better performance in games.
If you're using SLI and you're not using Win 10, you're shooting yourself in the foot.

As long as it doesn't turn out to be just more bloatware then it might be good that at least they are looking into gaming performance.
Whether or not they will implement it for all games is yet to be seen but hopefully they have learned from previous mistakes and not pis off millions of gamers in the process.
