20 years since Win 95? I feel old. Windows 98 was the first OS I ever used. Hopefully we will see RTM ISO appearing soon then.

Next 6 hours they'll give them to partners, hopefully something arrives shortly after that

I have a few questions about RTM. 1) How would I get hold of this? 2) I have 'reserved' my copy of Windows 10 in Windows 8. If I used the RTM would do invalidate anything? 3) Will I be able to activate the RTM and use my serial from Windows 8 like they said or will I have to wait to do that through proper channels. 4) Will this have DX12? Sorry if the questions seem daft. I'm just unsure. Thanks in advance.

To answer your first three questions You would download the update through Windows Update or you will be provided a link to the ISO file in an e-mail, it shouldn't invalidate anything and will likely just update the GUI and core files, I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed if they said it would work. Windows 10 will ship with Direct X 12. That is its selling point to gamers. If you haven't noticed that is one part of the OS that Nvidia has really been pushing to gain Maxwell sales.

This version of Windows is extremely inconsistant UI wise, lots of old icons remain, some settings in the new Settings App, others in Control Panel, Start Menu is not like the Windows 7 Start Menu as it was in ther ealry Beta versions, sorry this is not the Windoiws many asked for, and Microsoft did not listen to the Insider feedback, it was this is what you get like it or lump it. Only reson people might install is because its free.

From what I remember about a statement featuring some FAQs regarding the upgrade process. You wont get the product key until after the upgrade process, once you've upgraded then you get the product and would be able to reinstall from an iso if needed. This was from about a month ago, not sure if M$ have changed anything.

I'm sure the start menu will continue to evolve. It will never look same as it did from the the early beta builds as those still included all the code from the Windows 7 start menu that was completely removed later. In the early beta builds you could also switch from the metro interface to aero with a simple registry tweak. I'm sure the OS will continue to evolve and get updates that add features people want. If you want the Windows 7 style start menu use startisback, or just use Windows 7. Microsoft is trying to bring things back that were removed, but don't expect it to happen overnight.

1. Leaks, or wait until the developer channel is updated. 2. No, it is based off the license of Windows 8. 3. Most likely no, usually only developer keys work. 4. Yes

it's already out. checked for updates on my desktop just now and I am now downloading "TH1 Professional 10240" . . . somehow my laptop doesn't see it. even after messing with update settings regarding insider builds. whatever. would much prefer a fresh ISO install if anyone can find a link to one, I couldn't. getting excited for the 29th 🙂

My brother and my friend have both been on the Windows Insider Program, and they both just got it as an update too. So it's not just for manufacturers, it's for those who are on the Insider Program too. So anyone on it, go check for updates and get the ISO for yourself. Enjoy. I wonder if it'll be out on dreamspark accounts soon.

For anyone wondering whether or not they'll receive Windows 10 Build 10240 RTM on their Premium Dreamspark Accounts (I got the answer from Microsoft).
http://i.imgur.com/amd2LdM.png
For those not getting an update(like me) change the regkeys 'BranchName' and 'UserPrefferedBranchName' to TH1 and search for updates. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability http://i.imgur.com/YzwU1vP.jpg?1

two subjects top my list on windows 10 and dx12 on pc as a gaming platform the first is how many cpu cores will games use and how high is the percentage of each cpu core used , the second is multi gpu will the vram stack , the only fear i have about dx12 is LAZY developers even know i feel pc hardware is so much more powerful than next gen consoles but the developers are just not taking full use of all the power when they develop games in other words i feel console holds back pc gaming i just hope it we dont see this with dx12 and win10
