I don't know what DLSS 3 is going to do in this game. There is intense stuttering when flying over large cities and not even 4090 can brute force it. Devs need to focus on solving their open world streaming issues first. In other words, framerate isn't the problem in MS FS, it's incessant stuttering that is the problem.

I had a similar experience as well. What helped mitigate a fair amount of stuttering was I went in to the options and increased the cache streaming could hold on my disk. I put it to 64GB and it helped a lot with big cities.

similar here, get 60-70fps max at lowest DX11 settings even without a lot stuttering. Flight dynamics math is based on pure physics done by CPU only, and my CPU is hardly used at 10-20% avg. 50% at max. They should spread CPU multithread + increase RAM, but on Xbox? If you like sightseeing, DLSS can help bridging the physics clac. gap stutterings on CPU/ kernel, but that´s all and has nothing to do with a "simulator". MSFS looks overwhelming, but sadly it´s still a xbox game.

hmz? this was PC exclusive and only was ported to Xbox like 1 year later.

Using background filesystem monitoring tools I noticed that while in flight the sim is constantly reading from a certain large cache file on disc - so make sure that file is located on a fast SSD drive, and not a large slow mechanical drive. You should however split off the "Packages/Official/OneStore" folder to a secondary large mechanical drive since this is where all the extras are stored and it is way too big to be wasting expensive SSD space on (mine is currently 198GB). This is easiest done during install time - can also move this folder, then uninstall game, then re-install, then choose this folder when it asks where you want to install packages to - it will find existing files and not re-download hundreds of GB of same files.

I have all game data and cache folder on Samsung 980 Pro 2TB Gen4 NVMe. Also fairly recent PC with 12700K and all that. I'll try increasing cache size like another person suggested earlier.

Ok. From memory I think that cache file it was reading/writing to during flight was about 8GB... so increasing it to 64GB seems a bit overkill... but anyway. Also this is probably the thing that new MS Direct Storage might help with - which I presume (if possible) will be in some future update to MS Flight Sim - I'm sure they want to use this to showcase their new tech!

true, can remember when they lured people with $1.- game pass version. Since game is available on Xbox, PC version doesn´t crash so often anymore. 🙂 please don´t get me wrong, I like MSFS very much, but it is not a simulator. Edit: for performance option: it may help if game installation folder and cache folder are on different ultra fast ssd drives with ultra low access times, if possible. Preferably both drives configured as RAID0

Hopefully direct storage will be implemented sooner than later.

Hope it very much as well, but MSFS "loads" its "game landscape" live, via internet (azure, bing maps). Direct storage´s main impact on reduced loading times is on pre-compressed (or pre. compiled) game assets only. So, I am not sure if or how it can be implemented in MSFS (maybe at smaller manual cached areas?). But additionaly I must say, since latest update, I have not had any crashes yet and perormance realy did improve, there still is a lot of headroom to increase multithreads but improvement is significant. It goes to the right direction, appreciated.
