I would choose 3DXpoint over NAND without blinking.
Yeah 4-5 times are a bit steep, but c'mon, for such tech it is quite good.

As usual, new technology comes with initial high prices.
An option could be to combine storage to something like this: 64 GB 3DXPoint drive for OS and some apps + 512 GB SSD for games + 2-6 TB hard drive for media.

Doesn't seem fast enough to replace RAM though..

now how much it improve performance in reality ?
what in specs usually wont magically doubling performance
and also most user wont need that 65k queue depth
we can expect this become next SSD standard in future, when the tech mature, and price go down
but for now... if it like improve like 5secs loading time, but also 5x more expensive... then it wont reach for end-user, datacenter/enterprise will the one using it for time being

Why bother with this for now at consumer level? My computer from pressing the power button is up and ready for use in less than 8 seconds. Wtf would I pay $1000 to have it up and running in 4 seconds? Boys and their toys I understand, for me no thanks I'm good to go now.:thumbdown

In other words, we now have an excuse to increase prices again. Good for us as they would say.

4 times the price, i would rather buy 4 ssds based on nand, than 1 xpoint drive. Most would agree.
