I don't know, but they'll probably find a way, somehow.

We both know he's right.

OMFG, do you guys realize how powerful Seagate already is? They make excellent SSD's, but with this new acquisition, they will dominate the SSD market. They are either going to increase the price of an SSD, or lower it; and my bet is on the former 🙁 GG lower to having lower SSD prices. Enjoy the future of expensive!

Meh, I'm sticking with Intel.

Ha Lucidus is probably quite correct in stating they will screw over SSD's in some way or another even if it's just to buy out the competition because they can't compete against them in a fair fight for speed

Dunno but they replace all the 5 or 6 that died on me over the last couple years. The 1 certified repaired in this rig is spouting out warnings though.

Am I the only one that never had a Seagate HDD die on him? Actually never had any HDD die on my except a DOA Maxtor. Then again I test my HDD's before I even start using them.

All my drives are tested when installed and work fine. They inevitability fail. Wd drives running strong no problems with them.

never had issue in 15+ years with ANY seagate dying on me Till month ago when Momentus 5400.6 die on me in my ps3, error sure at some point all HDD will start showing errors. I think some people are just more vocal about things when the fail and some people around here have hard on for hating seagate. On other hand i had bunch western digital drives die on me.

I've had 1 Seagate desktop drive die on me but that was more than 15 years ago and Seagate replaced that drive with absolutely zero hassle. (Seagate actually shipped us a replacement before we shipped the faulty drive back to them, and they covered shipping.) More recently, I had a Seagate laptop drive die on me but it was being replaced with an SSD anyway.

I've had 2 Seagate drives (1 desktop, 1 laptop) and 2 WD drives die on me. Maxtor, on the other hand, I lost count of. At one point, I had 5 drives fail in 1 day. None of which had more than an hour's usage before failure. I've only had 8 Seagate drives in total though and I've had around a dozen Western Digital. I do know for a fact that I've had more Maxtor drives fail than I've owned of Seagate or WD..... I also had 1 Quantum BigFoot harddrive fail on me. Nothing beats my track record with Maxtor....100% failure rate. I've had 1 Maxtor drive fail for ever Maxtor drive I've installed.

One day we will likely find much of this is paid shill work. Think of how many times you have read "I would never buy a drive from **** again, I just bought a Samsung 840 Pro SSD and he has been perfect". I know many languages attach gender to objects but come on. SandForce couldn't stay single, the first marriage couldn't last, I am sure Seagate will be a good home. I use Seagate, I use WD, I use OCZ, I use Samsung, I use Intel. I have had a couple drives fail out of dozens but what product hasn't? Last time I checked all of those have a RMA Department for a reason. I sure don't dedicate my life to spamming every thread about that one issue.

Haha I totally agree with you. Every other thread/forum I read, i come across the same shizz.

No, I have 6 in my main PC alone. The closest to dead I had was a WD Caviar that made a horrible screeching sound then it couldn't write anymore so I took it out. I put it back in weeks later to get some files from it (it could still read) and it was working again. The reports of the failure rates for various models were not promising though, they were apparently off the scale for Seagate's 3TB model and way too high for the 2 and 4TB models as well.

Lol I am a shill because I shared horror stories with seagate drives.
