160 FPS that resolution is a tall order for a lot of high-end video cards

You dont have to hit 160fps but only 100fps at that resolution i would be happy and i bet it would be pretty smooth. 🙂

160fds is probably with some sort of overclocking, that makes the image worse. The sweet spot for this screen is going to be 144hz or 120hz. Still a tall order for most GPUs, but easier than the 160 value.

Why do you *have* to achieve the monitor's refresh rate? The entire point of technologies like Freesync/Gsync is that you don't.

If you mean achieving the refresh rate as in matching the same amount of fps as the maximum refresh rate, Less input delay from the raw amount of frames per second being shown on the screen versus it showing fps less than the amount it can show in one draw pass (the maximum refresh rate). Variable refresh rate technologies may make the fluctuation in frame rate be less jarring to the user, but inputs made while there is large variability in frame rate still won't be as precise as inputs made during consistent frame rate.

My 3440x1440 that got broke was 100hz. And it was very smooth at 100fps when I could reach it in new titles, and was still smooth at 60fps. Older games, I would VSR 5120x2160 and shoot for ultra settings @ 60fps. Newest titles would be high settings to hit 100fps. I miss that damn thing dearly already. This 2560x1080 60hz 34 inch sucks compared to the 29 inch 2560x1080 75hz freesync one I had years ago. But for $100 it was better then a POS 32 inch 1366x768 60hz TV with the dpi of a 2006 flip phone.

I dont use freesync anymore anyways. Low input mode+enhanced sync is better for me anyways. In FPS online, I always want to match my refresh rate. Least amount possible input lag. Offline games is different. 60fps on a 100hz panel without freesync on is still smooth as hell. FPS limit+enhanced sync is butter smooth.
