Price aside, what exactly does Dolby Atmos capable audio mean? I have a 5.1.2 speaker layout in my lounge with the final .2 being two ceiling speakers for the height channels allowed by Dolby Atmos. This requires an expensive AV Receiver and maps supported object based audio into a '3D' space. So, having explained what Dolby Atmos actually is, what can this little handheld do that adds height channels via it's diminuative stereo speakers? Is this just some headphone spatial audio marketing bs?

It better come with hall effect analog sticks, otherwise the Steam Deck is still king, as GuliKit sells hall effect modules for it.

I'm assuming that it is Atmos headphone capability. It's not like true physical Atmos, but it's not that bad (with proper headphones).

Now that is pricey, double the cost of my 64gig steamdeck, and no touch pads so pc games that require a mouse might be a pain to play.

According to the AMD slides we got a few days ago, this barely reaches 60fps in games on low details. It's even advertised as using upscaling for low details full HD... Not too impressed, but I can honestly say, buying any non-Extreme SOC versions is a bad, bad idea...

You do realize that it’s only 50 dollars more than the steam deck with the same 512gb hard drive. It’s not pricey. It’s way more powerful with a better screen too. It’s different but it’s not pricey.

Considering inflation, the price isn't that big... but the lack of touchpads kills a lot of potential for people who play something else than shooters and adventure games. Yes faster and better specs, but in this space, user interaction is king, not "moar pixels"

I`m not the target customer for this but i think the price is very good considering the hardware involved.

700 bucks ? Ok that seems a good price for it , witch is unexpected! From Asus I was expecting to hear 1000 really.

The market they're aiming for is very different from the PC market which is completely demoralized and used to eating shit at every turn. The handheld market might reject a $700 USD price point, especially considering it'll be even more expensive everywhere outside of 'Murica. The biggest reasons for the Steam Deck's success are the entry price point, and the support.

In comparison to most laptops with similar specs in the same price category is cheaper that's why I am surprised with the price

Yes but you're comparing it as a full mobile PC to a laptop, people aren't going to see it that way, they're going to see a $700 USD mobile gaming device. I seriously doubt people will compare it to the price of a laptop or a flagship phone, but I guess we'll see. I don't know if a 1080p screen was the right call considering at that tiny size 720p should be fine, but then again FSR2 is becoming more and more common. I'm waiting for a Steam Deck in the future with a 120Hz+ screen, a giant fat battery made from leprechaun magic, and enough power to actually push well over 60 fps... at 720p, which I'd like to see the screen remain unless FSR2 really makes 720p screens pointless.

I think the 1080p screen is a great choice because lower than that doesn`t provide an image with great quality. But having a RR of 120Hz seems kinda of pointless on this type of device, at least for me.
