Why would my car needs 512GB of storage? oh sure... to save all the data it sends to the manufacturer.... cars are getting pretty distopian.

Maybe for the massive database that it needs for calculus and AI recognition, so in case you go to Sahara, your car won't just crash you into a pole thinking you're still on the main road?

that's a good point, i guess security will be always a good excuse to pick on peoples data, i get is the way the world works this days, but you know, i still like simpler times.

Tbh, I personally don't. TESLA doesn't seem to be a Chinese company that takes my data just to sell it, and also, why should I care if my database think that I like steering to the left more then to right? I usually disable every telemetry, on PC/Android, but still, even if I couldn't on my car, what data can it store about me? What I talked with my wife about our dinner? xd

it is ok, it is just a personal election, i feel each day your stuff is less yours, i think it is ok if you don't mind to share your data, but it is not ok that your data is collected as default and and complicated (impossible in some cases) to turn off that data collection.
