Although Noctua NH-D15 has an official TDP of 220W, I bet it will give this cooler a run for its money 😉

I like this one a lot!

I've had the NH-D15 for years now, and it seems nothing really knocks it off it's throne (air-cooling wise). Have we reached peak technology/design in that area?

Is thermodynamics pure physics , no free lunch here or something miraculous to happen, it boils down to surface amount /thermal capacity / heat resistance , also how flat is the heat spreader and the finish on the cooler , even if something manage to top the d15 will be for 1 degree maaaaaaaybe 2 at best. Some tweaks on the fins maybe add more weight to it to make em a bit more wide so more than thermal capacity and surface . This is why the nh-d14 is still q top notch cooler and it loses to the d15 just by 1-2 degrees.

I've also wanted to replace my NH-D15 for quite some time now, but the only things I've seen that outperform it are stupid priced 360/480 AIOs. Noctua might release the successor to the NH-D15 within the next year, but don't expect it to be more than just barely measurably better. The laws of physics are a bitch.

At one side it is good ... Get 1 kick ass cooler keep it for a lifetime... On the other hand aircoolers where much more exciting early 2000 to 2010 i remember lusting over true silver 120 instead i got a ninja 2 was half the price for just few degrees worse. Now that i think about it true silver was a better performer than the hyper 212 so as far you can mount it should be a decent cooler to this day as far you do not expect extreme oc 😛
