Domestic energy prices here in the UK. Today. Have just gone through the roof. And predicted to go higher in the new year. Effectively all my disposable income is going to go on gas and leccy. Jensen wont be selling me a GPU any time soon.

my power budget just shrank to 200w from 250

This why GPU manfuactors and i think cpu manufator need to be added to that too but they all need to get there watt/tdp in check sooner later they arnt gona be make sales cause that alone. and they will use that as excuse to increase prices some how. I rather go back to GPU that ran off a single 6pin which was like what 150 watt max?

I'm expecting something like this:

Both Nvidia and AMD have. The next gen GPU's will be game changers in terms of visuals. Now is great time to buy current gen.
This is over optimistic, even if those new gpus are 30-40% faster at the same price level, that is not a leap forward for new visuals. It will allow to keep the same visuals and bump up resolution by one notch or bump up rtx a bit. Game changers in term of visuals can be only the artists and the game designers.

not bad those are 3080 fe numbers for 4060ti, 4060 similar to 3060ti, disappointing like 3060.
Ye but power draw is higher than we thought. 4070 was supposed to be 285w but i dont see that happening.

those are just leaks,it's nothing confirmed

Looks like both nvidia and AMD are going for the strategy of offering less silicon, in exchange of higher clock speed, with no regards to power consumption. With energy prices beating records, this is very concerning.

It is concerning. We'll have 4060/70 class gpus with 3x8pin pcie power connectors 😀

I'd presume that the extra power is needed to get full 4K at good framerates.

On the bright side, these video cards have over-engineered VRM and cooling that you can buy the cheapest model, undervolt it and have cool&quiet setup (even as quiet as custom watercool) Compare to all previous generations with anemic stock coolers, I had to slap after-market cooler on GPUs to make them bearable. I would rather have a car with 300km/h top speed and drive at 100km/h, rather than driving 100km/h on a car with 100km/h top speed 😀

At the end you payed more for the car that supposed to run 300kmh but it only runs 100kmh. What a deal.

Forgot to include that both cars have the same price since we are talking about rising power usage on same class of GPUs 😀. For example the 3080Ti would be much prefered choice over 2080Ti, despite a 100W increase in power consumption.

Not everyone knows or simply refuse to undervolt/overclock like we seen in this or some other thread. It will run the card as it is with unnecessary noise and heat.

I built like 20+ PCs for family and friends and none of them leave my hands running stock 😀. Anyways people can run their PC however they like, no harm no foul, but it's a waste not to take advantage of silicon lottery for some extra performance or cooler&quieter gaming experience. Now stock settings aren't the most safe settings, they are meant to break your hardware just after warranty end 😎, just look at gaming laptops with thermals in the 90C and 1 year warranty...

not this time though.3x8-pin is 450w off cables alone.525w with pci-e.most likely 8+6 for 4060/4060ti and 8+8 for 4070.still a lot but it's not 3x8 for 4060

The 3x8 PCIE power connectors are confirmed for the 60/70 versions? It seems overkill for supposed mid range GPUs.

No nothing is yet confirmed but if x70 class do enter 300w territory we can expect such on higher end models.
