Read the Core i7-8700X will be priced at $380 and 17-8700 $320. I'd rather have two extra cores for $349 with Ryzen 7 1700X.

We still have to wait for reviews and Ryzen will probably drop slightly in price by then. I think these will beat Ryzen for gaming again but only close the productivity margin. I'd rather buy from the company that pushed the innovation forward tbh and I'm containing myself from buying R5 1600 or R7 1700 because I wanted the 2nd matured gen.

Wait I thought AC WiFi was supposed to be part of the Z370 chipset this time around???

All the HEDT x299 did not impress due to costs and heat. I'm betting the 8700x will be a proper response to AMD Ryzen R7 line. Hopefully AMD is laser focused on nailing the 7nm shrink of Zen and Vega because if they can get that done on time they will smack Intel again. Fun times progress is coming much faster now.

I won't be so optimistic regarding high IPC on 8700K. It's 2 more cores to sync, if Intel manage to keep 7700K IPC with same overclock, that would be actually good.

I may have seriously considered Coffee Lake if it was released earlier. My itch for moar cores was satisfied with Ryzen 7 so I don't find these new hexa-core CPUs all that interesting. It's a similar situation with Core i9 - if it wasn't for Threadripper then I would have seriously considered the 7900X. Intel is now offering more for less, but the competition beat them to it (at least with customers like me).

Any news about Z390 motherboards?

All I can say is f**k off Intel I'm not buying another CPU off you ever. No backwards compatibility is an amazing blunder they'll come to regret. Once Coffee Lake bombs they'll be all over themselves trying to get it to work on 170/270 boards to stop people like me jumping to Ryzen which I fully intend to do on my next CPU upgrade. Intel is trying to act as monopoly when there is actually competition in the market again. The X299 is a serious joke as well considering the stupidly high prices. Perfect storm coming Intel's way thankfully.
