2 words - Beautiful monstrosity! Even given the probable price tag.

Well, too expensive for my taste (speaking of the big chip). If the prices scale anything like their top model, they might even be priced higher than Haswell-E... thanks but no thanks. With prices like these I doubt there will be interesting upgrade variants down the road for X99 users, besides the top chip we pretty much already have what they are going to release. Prices won't decline that much, so only used CPUs might get reasonable cheap down the road. Especially with decent overclocks I don't see this being very attractive to me personally.

Nice..Hope it's a good Overclocker..Thinking of upgrading my 5960X..:D

hehe you're still not confident in your 5960X? 😀 What's the voltage you're running for 4.5?

All honesty, they should change the Core i7 to a Core X7 / i7X or something and these designations of 6800K makes me thought initially they are using a Skylake.

it's not so much expensive 🙂 compared to equivalent Xeon it make a nice CPU for workstation if you don't need ECC. and yes it can run "plant VS zombies" in background too 🙂

Looks nice but not really worth the upgrade i think if u already own a 5930k and up.

Title says 3,5ghz but graph shows 3ghz?

I would grab one, especially since it works with my current mobo, but then again I doubt the 8-10 cores will be used in gaming mainly. We'll have to see if this changes in the near future, but so far few games take advantage of the extra cores, which is of course a big, big shame. As for the price, I too wouldn't be surprised if they bump to 1500$ for the top tier. I mean, they can, it's that simple really when there's no competition, other than yourself.

Where is my 6-core i5 with reasonable price tag? Well, HT is now used in more projects than before, so i7 with 6C/12T may not be bad idea. But man, it should better overclock well...

After looking into my crystal ball, it says 'ask again in 2018'. Hexacore i5 will probably take forever, if anything they will sell them as i7s first even on mainstream platforms, I guess. Like Solfaur said, lack of competition, an we will see what Zen brings. Once it's around, things might change in Intel's lineup / pricing.

I am sorry to say it, but your crystal ball is probably right. On bright side, mentioning Zen. I hope they'll price unlocked 8C/16T nicely. If not, AMD should at least bring those 4C/8T to performance level of 4C/8T i7. Price those at level of i5 and finally put i3 out of business. That would mix intel's line-up in a good way (for us customers).

yup, if zen goes for ipc and outdoes the top i3 or lower i5, they'll be back in business. The usage trend and the user requirement of that market doesnt even need hyper threading, just IPC will hold up, as has intel's ! Well must be a month or two away i guess

Will they finally call it an i9?

Yes I agree with you guys. Once Zen kicks in (and I personally hope it competes with the i7 / i5, rather than i3 / i5), and brings the performance via IPC too (not only cores), things could be shaken up. Not many features I know about with Intel that wouldn't reduce buying a CPU to more or less how many cores it has these days. We'll see how AMD fights back in a few months 🙂

NEED MOAR COARS!!!!!!!!!!! As tempting as this is, I doubt I would see much of an increase of performance...

I want More Cores for rendering..I don't want Xeons..I ran mine with 1.24v for 4.5ghz..:D

I doubt that I'll upgrade from the 5960x, this would cost 2000$ Canadian.... Yeah... No..

You're lucky, mine needs a lot more juice than 1.24, I need 1.42v for a prime95 stable OC.
