Undying:

Loosing the brand recognition isnt the smartest thing especially if the product is not that impressive. The C2D to "i" worked becouse Intel was on top of their game.
and even c2d wasn't the model number as it first was a solo cpu and all of that series had a Q (not "i") before the model number as it was the step-up (i-7) equivalent

And to think that someone got paid to come up with this name.

Ultra what? This could make sense for the top tier parts but using it for every part?... Such stupid branding.
Core Ultra i3-5-7-9.

Undying:

Intel had nothing to compete with Athlon FX lineup.
They did not need to Athlon FX was unpurchasable by 99.99% of the population 😉

My dumbazz paid $200 for a Pentium D 945 Maybe I should start a thread called..."dumbest PC purchase ever"
Or do what I did back then in buying the cheapest chip in the series and OC the snot out of it. On a side note the new name sounds like some sort of top secret government project.

Well i must've been not a smart person as i was one that purchased an AMD FX based System back in 2016 (AMD FX 8310, kept it for a year) unforuately my gaming did not improve with that processor at all, of course could've been video card as well included with that build, but soon as i came across needed funds. Swapped back to Intel as fast as i could, and grabbed a Asus I7 7700 based Pre built til i could afford a custom built from local shop in June 2020

I had a P4 3.0Ghz running for close to 14years. Retired it in favor of faster hardware, but it was still working! YouTube would only ran at 360p though... I miss the days where hardware wouldn't just give up, you would give up in favor of faster hardware! Nowadays you're playing Russian roulette with warranties... Can't say my P4 was a bad experience, but it was really showing age when I switched for a C2D E8400 back in 2008.

I5 and i7 have REALLY strong brand recognition ....why change it ? :/
