I do not think its a Typo. At this rate intel is going famous rappers will have intel xeon-e7s hanging off there necklace instead of diamonds haha! Those price's are just Insane,Id love to just hold one in my hand to see how a almost 10k cpu feel's like.

Server CPUs are no joke with their pricing because they know they can get it. If you absolutely need the best you're not worrying about cost. We run 6 VMware hosts with 2 Intel 16c CPUs (E5-2697A v4). Those CPUs were about $3k a piece when the servers were purchased.

Hmmm
They definitely missed an opportunity to price it at $8894 😉
Öhr
$8900 for 24 cores? So that's about $370 per core... I'd rather have 192 Cores for the same amount of money:

Or do you perhaps prefer twice that? 380 cores?

the weird thing is that most server hosting companies refuse to use AMD hardware, at least in Europe. I wonder what will happen when this:
http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-naples-32-core-zen-processors-photos.html
will hit the server market. I have a feeling customers will push for AMD hardware because it will be cheaper and provide more cores per socket.
Right now, i administer vmware infrastructures for a lot of big companies all over the world thorough the company i work for. We never provided AMD platforms. The Dell, Fujitsu, Cisco, HP or Bull esxi hosts are all Intel based.
I look forward to some AMD stuff.

In 10 years we'll be laughing at this as our $300 CPUs destroy it.

I can buy a car for 9K. New car.

Let's hope some big customers bravely jump in and invest in AMD's similar server chips. AMD would need references of (reasonably) long-term stability and general troubleless runtime to attract customers. It's not just the Naples itself but also the board it's attached to.
On the bright side, apparently the server owners have over the years got just as fed up with Intel's monopoly as everybody else, so in that sense the business world should be welcoming AMD as well, should they offer a good product.

hahaha crapy 2.4 ghz cpu with maybe 2 threads over 3 ghz for almost 9k
i hope soon Amd show intel how to do it right and for smaller price

That's what datacenter and render farms use ? ... not overclocked i3 😀
These prices are nothing considering that sometimes developers / designers do earn more then this monthly.

Big datacenters that purchase this type of cpus worry more about TDP then about performance.
Seeing that we have 8/16 core zen running at 65W tdp @ 3.7Ghz, I think Intel is worried and is at this point taking whatever they can before 32 core zen hits the market

This is sickening......simply sickening. Something needs to happen in this industry to shut down these scalpers..!.!
Nothing is that more reliable/powerful to quantify this jump in pricing. Even on their "consumer" level grade garbage Intel is seriously gouging them prices.
