Patches scheduled for May and August... I believe it when I see it. Last time Intel gave patch dates after the big exploit they took three months longer than expected, and then you didn't get them for all the CPUs they originally claimed they'd patch. Way to go m$, quite a track record in 2017/18 so far.
Here you go. Patches delayed, a quote from my own response on the topic and when they thought they were ready from last Thursday. Turns out I'm not too far off.

really curious to see what kind of nasty hackery intel intends to do via microcode to address this, their "microcode patch" for spectre 1 and 2 was very ugly.

My theory : This spectre was created by the NSA. It is not only for computers but for any device with a micro-processor. The idea is to a create a ghost inside every device around the world that can be traced easily and efficiently. Intel is delaying the patch ? makes no sense, unless Intel knew directly what these vulnerabilities where for, ghosting people of interest, aka everyone. Not to get too political, but the world should be thankingTrump right now for taking on the Shadow Government bullshit. Trump has the Shadow Government so scared it is unreal.
That's just bat shit crazy talk.

I am laughing, because comments here are funny. And I know exactly what's coming. I've seen effects of 1st patches and feel consequences even today... So, what coming after following patches? HW refreshes. And guess whose CPUs are going to go into those data centers? Yep, again intel. Somewhere for some smaller company there may be AMD server here and there. But in big business, you do not move to AMD as they are unable to supply required volume. So intel actually getting boost in data center revenue. At least AMD is getting small part of pie.
From 90-10% we will see 75-25% on server market, after this Intel new bugs. Not bad for a new cpu. Thats why Intel hire people from Amd(including Jim Keller),they recognize the advantage of the Ryzen-Epyc in multitask enviroment and security solutions.

I don't see what's so difficult to figure out about this and definitely no relation to dumbass conspiracy with retard tRump as savior. It's all to do with money, period. "Lets build this architecture because its faster. But what about security, boss? F*&@ that, nobody will notice this."

This is what it really boils down to. Damn, I missed to quote the one above me, but it really has to do with that Intel wanted new stuff out, and didnt really check the possible risk of not doing intence tests, much like microsoft did, earlier. Just check the exploits that was known from windows 95, through w98, 98 SE, Millennium, XP, Vista, and windows 7/8..... They had a cpu they "promised" the market, they had to finish it, and get it out, otherwise they would look stupid. And now, the "evil" people, have much more training, in finding the weaknesses, so it's now ppl are getting aware that their cpu(s) might be a problem.

AMD cannot supply required volume? What about in the past where AMD tried to provide 1 million plus processors for free so that HP will use their products? 1 million.

I don't think you fully understand how supply and demand works... If you are limited to manufacturing 10 million units but you made a product so un-interesting that you give away 1 million of them, that is not a limitation on AMD's supply. When you have a chip that's actually in-demand and sold out everywhere, suddenly, 10 million is not enough.

I still have a laptop and low end PC with Intel cpus on them , i wonder if they will ever get patched :/

Of course not,for Intel only matter Skylake+ cpus. Plus old low-end laptop will have worst performance with these mitigate patches.
