Might as well. At this point there's no reason to buy them - you can either get 10th gen parts for a reasonable price or go for AMD.

I have a feeling even the 10th gen HEDT chips are extremely low volume now. Starting in the HEDT chips AMD really takes it to Intel from performance to pricing.

I have 18 Core 10th get 2066 socket and it is better than Ryzen AM4 and Comet Lake S. Such a wonderful product and 2066 platform itself.
Threadripper wants to have a word with you.

Intel needs to discontinue 14nm and move on to 7nm

ThreadRipper is more expensive and has worse gaming performance. 2066 is overall better platform for me since I do lot of gaming on it too. Intel should have never release 1200 socket. They should kept only 2066 socket because it can handle any power requirement and future CPUs.
True story. My overclocked 7980xe 4700mhz/4000c16 memory/~49ns memorylatency, is beating every Ryzen in gaming including threadrippers. On par with 3950x in rendering with ~10900points in Cinebench r20. Pretty good for an 3 years old cpu 🙂 Overall a very good platform with many pci-lanes and good in everything. Threadripper gen 3 sux in gaming due to high latency.

If 7nm is so good, why don't Ryzen win over Intel in everything? Now Ryzen is only winning in Rendering due to more cores.... I want 5400mhz 32cores with sub 30ns memorylatency 😀

gaming gaming gaming gaming gaming gaming gaming gaming gaming gaming gaming gaming gaming gaming gaming gaming ... Since when these workstation class CPUs matter to gaming and gaming only ? But yeah, keep spewing out bs... getting my popcorn.

Since HEDT plattform was born 🙂 I think it's nice to have a pc that is good on everything, not only one thing. I want "10900k" @5300mhz/4700c17 performance with 32 cores next 😀 Is it just BS because you don't agree with it? One pc to rule them all. Threadripper is only ruling one thing. Fast in EVERYTHING is the most important for me.

They matter in gaming since Intel had a platform that enabled that quite nicely. There is nothing wrong with wanting a strong platform for workstation tasks during work hours and being able to game on it nicely at night. No-one has claimed that gaming is the only thing that matters, but its also a thing that matters for some of us, since we want one perfect system for all our uses. The real BS is people dismissing a perfectly valid use-case that Intel HEDT has enabled just fine, and its one case that unfortunately AMD does not cover. Presumably AMD fanbois that can't stand being told about a weakness in their lineup. I would love a Zen2 16-core CPU with a HEDT design - quad channel memory, more PCIe. And full OC to boot for the gaming performance. TR Pro now offers 12 and 16 core chips, so I'm sort of hopeful that Zen3 might offer normal ThreadRippers in that segment as well.

Like if TR would not be good at gaming rofl. Come on ... it's not king but it's certainly good. Those are expensive workstation cpus gaming is just an afterthought as long as you can get decent performance which you get with TR 3xxx (more questionable for 1xxxx/2xxx) that's not a problem at all.

When a CPU that costs only $ 120 on a $100 motherboard equals or beats Intel's entire HEDT lineup in what you snobs tout as "gaming leadership" https://www.guru3d.com/index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=60218 https://www.guru3d.com/index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=60219 Please tell me more about your amazing i9 79XXX or whatever... Anyway, I'm done here, it stinks too much of Blue.
You are posting stock results. I'm talking about overclocked LOL. Stock x299 sux.

for forum argument sake only - just to be clear. I mean it's not like you're some scientist building a rocket ship for NASA or something
So this is youre argument?

I'm kinda kidding. I honestly was curious (not for the intent of making fun of or mocking) what workload is it that AMD TR still is subpar at that I should know about? (I've been on the fence about building a TR rig for workstation rendering - I just started my degree at FIT for vfx & game design - I'm interested in something resource-intensive)
I have a threadripper for my main server/f@h, but my workstation is for "everything". Sometimes I want to play a game on it, that's why I like to have "top notch" gamingperformance too. If Trx had lower latency this would be my workstation for shure. Using Trx on my workstation means something will be a downgrade of my soon 3 years old 7980xe. I don't want to downgrade anything, even using Optane 905p for OS/programs. My kids is using my new 10900k @ 5300mhz with fast memory 😉 Gaming only. If only this was Threadripper 32 core... 5300mhz and 4800c17 memory and low latency 😀 https://www.diskusjon.no/uploads/monthly_2020_06/807307155_4800c17aida64.PNG.743b2bb8edeead84865b58319266502b.PNG

AMD has been riding high on Ryzen for a few years now, but when Intel finally switches to 10nm and below I think they're gonna destroy AMD in performance. However pricing will be the most important factor to the end consumer. I expect Intel's next gen CPU's to offer 8/16 threads at an affordable price. However Zen 3 is all ready there to counter it. Exciting times! Red vs Blue vs Green, what a great time to be a PC gamer.

Intel has the ability to do this; I think at times management sometimes can get in the way of innovation and great engineering. I doubt Intel has incompetent engineers at the mid level. Like many other places or industries I think when you tell development to rush things or to push things etc important things can be overlooked. The issue of security makes me wonder if these were decisions from the top being pushed on the back-burner. "We have time we can get to this" "it isn't as bad as etc" For now it has placed them in a spot having to play catch-up with AMD and made many look bad that likely had nothing to do with the problem. I don't work in the Intel environment (actually turned a Chandler plant contract down at one point since there wasn't Health Care offered lol) so this is pure conjecture on my end...
I wonder how much coronavirus scuppered their plans with slowing down new architecture designs and also broader issues like awaiting parts from ASML?
