AMD RYZEN 7 1800X going for $550 or better yet, RYZEN 7 1700X 8-Core $349. Intel's steep pricing may well boost AMD sales.

Why oh why would you get the 7740K over the 7800K?

And I think Intel forgot Threadripper is on the way.

That's not main problem this platform of intel's is going to have. Threadripper will be here in July as confirmed by Alienware's roadmap. And they are placing as top 16C/32T TR on AMD's side. And 10C/20T on intel's. Is that due to intel's high price? Or due to low availability? In either way from Alienware's business perspective, they do not intend to offer more than 10-core intel solution at this moment in time.

I still would go intel when it comes to building a new gaming rig or at least until the second Gen AMD cpu`s come out but that said it would not be at any price which intel still seems to think it can get away with.

Depends, for 144fps+ at lower not GPU bound resolutions then yes, but for gaming + general purpose threadripper looks much better on paper( pending price of course )

Those Kaby Lake X are most pointless CPU's i have ever seen.

No, Pre-orders will open on July 27th, there is no shipping date or announcement when TR will be shipping in general.

Funny how a lot of people are saying X299 will be a huge failure but I won't be surprised when it is sold out everywhere on or around launch (and for the weeks following). Sure, the low end Kaby Lake X CPUs are fairly pointless, but doubtless, the higher end stuff won't be the disaster that many think (or hope) it will be.

800 MHz faster clock speed?...will overtake 7700k as fastest gaming processor?

7800X will be the sweetspot for many enthusiasts

Der8auer hit 5.0Ghz on a delidded 10 core with a Corsair AIO. He seems to think most chips will be able to do 4.7/4.8.

It's sad if the price of 1800X increased to $550. Just sad.

Its only 100Mhz faster than the 7700k and its going to cost you likely $200 more for the motherboard and CPU vs the 7700K. Honestly the KayLake-x's are mostly pointless chips unless Intel all the sudden stops selling the 7600K and 7700K.

If you want the best, buy Intel. Want the second best, buy AMD. Some want the best, no matter the cost. I have Ryzen 1800x and Intel 6900k. 6900k oc i faster but 1800x oc is fast enough 😛

That is what I've been waiting to hear.

i quoted a 7800K remark.
