Pricy. When you think of it you can get a 7800x3d+X670 board for the same amount.

That is one expensive space heater.

5 years ago, the pinacle of Intel's offerings for gamers was the 9900KF.
It didn't cost 750, but 500$.
It didn't have a TDP of 150W, but only 95.
It didn't use real world 400W, but real world 250W under torture.
It didn't reach 100+ temperatures, but ran a bit cooler.
Mainboards were probably cheaper.
But the same two processors are used to run CS and COD on minimal details but max FPS at 1080p.
Nothing has changed. Just looks weird thinking about it that way.

The only reason this exists is to be at the top of benchmarks. Maybe some e-sports pros will use them, too. Some people only look at the top result, so it weirdly makes perfect sense for Intel to do this, even if it doesn't make sense to the rest of us, who just play games.

I dont see why the KS is getting so much attention. Only difference vs the K is 0.2ghz in turbo boost (6.2 > 6.0). Thats it. Oh, and 150w vs 125w for that measly 0.2 rise. Intel has managed to get this dumb chip so over-hyped by the tech press.

Yeah I'm not sure who's excited for this one, and I'm Intel user with motherboard compatible with this CPU. Seems like excitement is artificial. I think most are just waiting for the next gen Intel CPUs which are coming in 6-7 months. Now that's interesting to me.

Bragging rights. Some guys get faster CPUs, some penis extensions. Both fall into "paying so much for so little", and yet here we are.

Sometimes less is more too 🙂.
This I5-14400F build in a SFF is pretty cool imo:

Yeah, my AM4 5900X build was my first AMD CPU since Core 2 Duo, and before that I was almost exclusively Intel until the disaster that was Prescott. I'm fairly platform-agnostic though, whatever gets me the most performance at a given price point gets my money.
