AMD will be on TOP for longer than most of us think

I thought Intel could recover a bit faster. After all, they did get Coffee Lake out very fast, the same year as Kaby Lake (desktop), even if it was more or less a paper launch with availability lacking for months. But in retrospect poor availability seems perfectly normal from 2020's perspective, unfortunately. However, that was pretty much it. They must have had a 6-core design more or less ready, in case AMD really surprises them, but beyond that they had their pants firmly around their ankles. How Intel was forced to abandon HEDT is the best demonstration of it. I guess even an unlimited budget can't pull miracles out of nowhere. That being said, retaining the gaming crown for so long is respectable. In the huge laptop and business PC market Intel never suffered that much, I believe, so Intel's troubles look exaggerated if one only observes the situation from a very narrow perspective. Intel's supply situation also ought to be far better than AMD's.

I think that with a 12% gain they will be on top again, by the same ridicolous margin amd is on top now. There is no TOP imho, as written in all capital, there is just 2 options, completely similar.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, Guru3D pin the current 10900k single core at around 590. So this doesnt seem like much at all?

They "launched" Coffee Lake you mean. It was a paper launch as no one could get even basic stocks/stores of the 8700K or 8600K until the following year. In order to "recover" one has to have something in place long before the competition comes out. The Rocket Lake processors are woefully inadequate. I mean... look at the base clock speed of the 11900 vs the unlocked K model. 1.8GHz 8-core? That's pretty abysmal for any desktop part. Just sayin'. Guess we'll see exactly what Intel can even do with Rocket Lake. Back-porting from 10nm to 14nm is going to hurt them BIG TIME in the long run.

Why Intel got stuck at 14nm finfet? can someone explain me?
data/avatar/default/avatar13.webp
Lol my 9900K @ 5.0GHz is doing 590 for single core and 6017 for multicore scores...

Not sure why, but I can't get anywhere near the results of the Guru3d CPU-Z scores on my CPU - I just upgraded to a 5800X from a 2600X and neither of the two are anywhere near what the Guru3d score is. Not withstanding that the 2600X was even running at 3400mhz 13-13-13-37 RAM :|

if these scores are true (even for an ES Sample) , it s really disapointed for Intel. How they can compete AMD Ryzen 5xxx with these new cpus ? especially with "only" 8/16 threads on top cpu ? (I m not intel or AMD fanboy cos I have i9 9900k and Ryzen 3800XT)

Having trouble with their 10nm and smaller nodes. Especially when it comes to yields, I believe. So far, they only have been able to make 10nm CPUs for mobile devices.

honestly, again, when comes to games, apart those 1000 world wide professional players, anything on the top charts, 9900k, 10700k, 10900k, 5800x, 5600x and 3800x are way to similar to talk about competition. For what matter on seeling cpus price and availability are still the top specs. Also if we consider a 12% increase from the 10th gen launch, in less than 6 months, well that is something good, we were used to less than 10% year over year

Not sure how much those 12% truly translate to other applications... Is the CPU-Z benchmark really representative of "real world performance"?

Are these gonna support pcie 4.0? i really want to change to intel because they work faster in science apps thay i currently using.

I hope not...because their prices will also be on top sooner than you think;) We need competition so we need Intel back on their feet.

If these non K are that "fast" then normal k models will be much better.

I already got overpriced 5600X.... Could almost get i7 10700k for it ( 30$-40$ difference) . But i went AMD this time because Intel pissed me off , Fanboy move a bit , but 5600X is amazing , performance is crazy , especialy if someone is in for high fps gaming , in older games gains are crazy .

in short, yes but your science apps will work faster on AMD's ryzen 3 platform in every regard

Intel is several times bigger than AMD. we have competition, the fact that Intel is butt-hurt is another thread.

So they failed to solve that trouble so far?wow

Currently best budget gaming cpu is 10700F. It is cheaper than 5600X . So i'd say competition is good 😀
