Better to wait for Tiger Lake-S. DDR5 RAM + PCI-E 4.0 or 5.0.

Any guesses on how long it will be before they replace LGA1200?

If the other Intel article is correct, by end of the year will be replaced by LGA1700. And Intel pulls things like this like Z270 which lived just 6 months for no reason whatsoever, as the Z170 could run 7000 CPUs.

Intel generally gives you two CPU series per motherboard chipset/socket. So LGA1200 should work with 11xxx series too.

What are the expected new feature expected excepted a new socket ? seam intel walk on the same path as apple ... are we ready for nvidia / intel fusion ?

Yeah, not touching these either at these prices. I got my 8700K at 360EU in 2017, cheaper than a Ryzen 1700 at the time, and top of the (consumer) line. 600EU+? No effing way whatsoever.

I mean prices are lowered compared to the 9000 series. You can get the 9900k equivalent for some euro less. So not that bad. I was worried it was worse. The 10 core is overpriced, since if you want many cores you can grab the 3900x i guess from AMD. But if you want intel you have the option without jumping on HEDT. Availability will be the decisive factor, not the prices today.

These CPUs should not even exist, all Intel had to do is to lower the price of 9900k down to $300. 1200 Socket will be replaced by 1700 socket, do not buy this.
As long 9900k is selling VERY well, they don't need too lower the prize πŸ™‚ Intel want our money, and Amd want our money.

I am guessing it will be short lived because it sounds like it should have been PCI 4, so the fully functioning PCI 4 Chipset or socket is somewhere in the near future.

The major difference when you buy an Apple you buy a part of an infrastructure and a concept from a company... On CPU market when you buy Intel, you just buy a CPU... Nvidia and intel fusion... with both that have stealed idea and tech form the other one last time they were working on a common project, and years of sueing and million lost for both... i don't think about it (despite it could be nice). Also NVidia is concurent or leader in segment where Intel is, like: supercomputer, automotive, small embeded system, defence and more

Intel might jump from 3 to 5 (by the way AMD will drop the 4 as soon as the 5 would be aviable, PCIe 4 might have a very short life)

With these prices I guess they need to milk their $100B+ spent on marketing over the past few decades . Pay more for less performance, and buy a socket that is DOA. "Nobody ever got fired for buying IBM Intel!"

You've been saying how great the prices were going to be on the 10 series and how amazing the 10 series was going to be and now you are flipping around? Wow.

These 10-series chips are about US$ 80 to 100 more than the current 9-series at their launch prices. Given their non-support for PCIE 4.0, looks like I would be skipping this series and just wait for the 11-series chips instead. I currently have a 9700k so that should tide me over until then. I'll just upgrade my GPU to the upcoming RTX 30 series.

I would ask you how this 10900 series will perform against a Ryzen 3900x?!?! Since that the 3900x now costs USD 440?!?! ItΒ΄s 12-core X 10-Core... Will Intel make some kind of magic or what?
