All of those achievements listed at the end of the article are basically things the company accomplished within the past few years, with many of them not proving to be that big of a deal. As far as I'm aware, he was around when x86 was started, when intel got into SSDs, when intel invented hyper threading, and other breakthroughs that got intel to make computing what it is today. Anyways, I won't be terribly sad to see him gone. I got the impression that he was as much of an ass as Bill Gates except the only difference is Bill realized that his plans to continue snuffing out the competition wasn't going to do him any good. While intel may have started the era of modern computing and may have found great ways to optimize things, they are not nearly as innovative as AMD has been. If AMD had the money (which they would if intel wasn't so anticompetitive during the p4 days) then I'm sure Bulldozer might've actually turned out to be better than i7. I remember hearing AMD had 2 routes when making a new arch and they chose the cheaper easier path because they couldn't afford the other one. Unfortunately though, intel is so far ahead i feel AMD should just give up before it becomes embarrassing. Then help out with ARM.
