I saw this over on reddit /r/ csgo, disabling it had zero effect on my performance that couldn't be attributed to margin of error differences. I think there might be a bug with experience that sometimes it utilizes more resources than it should be. But under normal circumstances performance should be fine.

I don`t have GFE installed, but thanks just the same. Other people could benefit from it.

probably was a bug, Shadowplay does not take any fps hit, and GFE does not reduce any FPS.

I use ShadowPlay way to much to disable the "NVIDIA Streamer Service", but thank you for the tweak anyway. EDIT ShadowPlay works just fine when the "Streaming Service" is disabled.

omg 🤓 best tweak information ever :pc1: Last year there was a huge error with that service where nvstreamsvc.exe was actually locking up computers completely because of a memory leak. GeForce Forums Topic

I don't always have it installed but I didn't notice any slowdowns when I did. I don't really use shadowplay so I will give this a go.

Thank you for the tip! Perhaps the sentence about ShadowPlay should be bold & italic 🙂 I use ShadowPlay so I cannot disable this service; it is always on, so I can "catch" some funny or exciting moments 🙂

Currently haven't installed that software, as it does not offer anything to my geforce 580. Wanted to give it a try with my next rig though...

GFE is garbage anyway. I never install it anymore. It recognizes maybe 10% of the games I have installed and then it recommends either ridiculously high or low settings as optimal. I turned on DSR and was playing with the settings and it recommended that the optimal resolution for BF4 was x4 of my native 2560x1440 and everything on ultra. But then CS:GO was recommended running at 1080p

I had the service off from the get go, I don't use it so I turned it off. I usually turn off services I don't use right after installing Windows. 😀

Shadowplay does take about 10% of FPS performance.

I absolutely love ShadowPlay so I always install GFE. I don't know if PCmasterRace has a slower PC and notices a performance increase because of it but I do not get any kind of boost with it disabled. Resources, frame rate, CPU core usage in my monitoring software is all the same regardless if its on or off. That's why I like ShadowPlay as much as I do, no performance hit. Of course the 60fps limitless recording time and super small file size compared to other apps is also a plus.

Just another reason that makes me glad I do not use GeForce Experience

I have been doing this "trick" over 2 weeks now. Result: zero, nada and zilch 🤓

Thanks, but i am already way a head here, i have been doing it for last 6 months until last month i decided i had enough of the crap that comes with the drivers since then I only install display driver and physx, before just disabled all of services gfe comes with
Been doing this for years, i also only use bandicam which blows shadowplay and any other recording software away.

1) maybe for some users this is good, for me and others no performance gain,so not for all. 2) GFE has one feature that EVERYONES FORGET: IT WILL UPDATE AND ADD PROFILES FOR ALL GAMES.. does anyone will argue about this ? so that services is needed if you want to have the new/updated profiles. I use it only for this, everything else is disabled (also I keep games' discovery folders empty because I too as most of you don't need a software to tell me what is better or worse for my gameplay..

"Okay, if you are like myself and you don't even install GeForce Experience then you can skip this all-together." Skipped. Thank you. 😉

Zero impact for me also
