TN panels making a huge return lately. Prices of 4K going down. GPUs still can't handle 4K. (not talking about multi-gpu configurations). Seems like Nvidia and AMD need to make a huge jump in their performance. From 1080p which is the norm to 4k. Single GPU's need to support 4k @ 60hz with high settings in games and this is not here yet.

I see what you're saying, but you have to remember that the amount of people gaming at 4K is extremely small. It's definitely not mainstream, so I don't think you should expect to see any mainstream gpu be able to handle 4K on its own for a good while. I wish they'd up their performance by that much, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

It's as good as 4K monitors currently are. And yes, it's too early. Only SLI/tri-SLI or CF can currently do 4K at decent FPS, and someone with such a rig won't settle for 60 Hz. 1440p is the way to go for now, and it's about bloody time we get rid of 1080p.

And the biggest issue is that content is not greater than 1080p. Games are designed for 1080P and even desktop apps require scaling, so what's the point?

Your right, unfortunately. I wish we did see more 4k content, textures, etc... Consoles are partly to blame.

Yup. I believe it's just the lowest common denominator of consumers, streaming content bandwidth requirements etc. 2160P will not be a standard anytime soon, and current available tech will become obsolete in a matter of weeks/months as H265 will basically be a death knell for H264 chips in the teevees available @ 2160P currently. A 2160P teevee is a joke right now, analogous to the Titan-Z - superseded in a very short period of time. 2160P monitors, as mentioned, sort of make sense for apps requiring large amounts of desktop real estate - but scaling is required to use the GUI as even that is designed for 1080P. GPU's can't do gaming content @ 2160P at the refresh rate we want it to, or the price the market would support. Games companies don't do textures @ 2K or higher. 4K textures would bloat a game to 100GB for AAA 3D titles (no to mention polygon counts to support it without looking like minecraft) Bandwidth restrictions impede the ability to download a 100GB game (yes I know this is geographical and contentious issue, but still relevant) H265 encoding chips are not in GPU's currently (nVidia 600 series+ have H264? and Intel have H264 also? stop me if wrong) 2160P...it's not time yet...

TN is your typical office quality monitor, i don't see anyone in an officer using 4K... Why crap out 4K TN Panels when the Gaming market is done with TN?

I've seen IPS monitors with worse image quality than TN's (Including 2/3 of the Qnix monitors I owned). Plus I don't think anyone in the office is willing to shell out $1000 for a monitor, nor gamers, especially at 60hz. So until you can find a way to get a 4K IPS @ 120hz at a reasonable price you can probably expect TN to be the norm.

The FORIS FG2421 is a 24" 1080p 120Hz VA When I said 60hz and $1000 I was referring to the Dell 4K 60Hz IPS (UP2414Q) they have. Which is plagued by quality control problems.

No offence to EIZO cuz i love EIZO Monitors, but those FG2421's are garbage. Terrible Edge Bleeding and Cross Hatching. I had one myself and i surely didn't get what i payed for it. (using a CX240 now. Nope not a Gaming monitor, but it beats the hell out of all the others Quality wise)
