Just to add a little more confusion for the end user if they simultaneously market multiple versions of a similar card.
4070, 4070Ti, 4070Ti Super, I mean where does the 4070 series end and the 4080 series begin, there will be a cross 9ver in price for sure, even more confusing if there's also a cross over in performance.

I reckon they'll probably discontinue OG 4070/Ti and 4080 and just have the super version slot right in at the current respective MSRP in order to make it look like a "good deal" since the current 4000 series not selling well anyway.

As predicted, it's just about the better GPU fab and the better yields in terms of how much of the chip actually works and doesn't have to be cut.
4070 Super gets 22% more cores (7168 / 5888)
4070TI Super gets 10% more cores (8448 / 7680)
4080 Super gets 5% more cores (10240 / 9728)
So make of that what offers the best improvement over the non-super card.
Also, no 4090 Super? No 4080TI? Sounds like I can go back to not care too much.

Are they definitely not selling well, and if so is that by country or globally as in the UK they have risen slightly in price and I've read there are shortages in some countries.

Yeah, if the jump is 20/10/5% then we might assume that a 2 - 2.5% jump in cores for a 4090Ti/Super probably isn't worth the hassle.

I believe the price increase was due to NV purposely reducing production as the cards were not selling and the production capacity has been shifted over to AI products catering large companies due to recent AI boom so now the cards are starting to become more scarce.
Australia's the same prices have started creeping back up (along with our sh!tty dollar creeping down) but it was only a few months ago cards dropped below MSRP but were still plentiful with no supply issues.

It's curious that the weaker card gets the bigger performance jump.

More cores yeah but not a certainty we see the same % bump in real world performance as other factors may come into effect.

As the advocatus diaboli one would have to say, smaller chips are easier to get right and improve yield rates with better fabrication, or better chips at the same yield (and also, trickling down are more of these lower chips from high end ones because less mid range are left over).
Arguably, I'd say because there's more competition in that field, thus a bigger incentive to offer more performance for comparable money in the current market.

Did nvidia know why their 40 series doesn't selling well instead of revamp it?
They remain those price of the era of "mining world" and after the falling but nvidia still feigning ignorance and push out with even increase the price but not the performance which "gamers" want.
Gamer vs Mining = G need 1 GPU while M need multiple GPUs

Its a refresh, so possibly more efficient in both operation (faster/less heat) and production (more cost effective).
As mentioned above they may well use these to replace a current model, as for the super, well that just ensures everybody knows its not the same as what it is replacing.

I had decided to hang on to my 3090 until the 50xx cards.
If 50xx are delayed until 2025 I now want a 4080ti to tide me over.
But wtf is this, no 4080ti?
No sale and a pissed off none-customer!
If the 4080ti comes any later theres no value in it.
