Most people don't use any of the "spying" stuff anyway and it's an overall better OS than Win 7. If you're so worried about being spied on you can restrict all the data being sent in/out via a hardware firewall and various other system choices. But at that point you might start to ask yourself if running 3Dmark for points is worth running Windows and just roll back to 15 year old hardware that uses half the power of today and has stable drivers on Linux and allows you to play any Linux title just fine.

The Anniversary Update breaks Logitech Webcam Software, so if you use that a lot you may want to wait a bit until there's a fix.

I just applied the update today and no Cortana enabled or anything like that so I am thinking that once you Disabled Cortana that its grandfathered in to stay disabled until you enable it yourself in order for the changes to happen. Also I like how they redid the start-menu adding to the start menu the logout feature for those who share a computer with multiple profiles.

+1 :cheers: On top of this these people tend not to have an issue sharing their entire existence on a smart phone and on Social Networks. Windows 10 is an awesome OS. I use Win 10 Pro x64 personally on every PC and laptop in my home, and also have deployed W10 Ent x64 across my entire organisation, along with Office 2016. Never been happier with Microsoft.

Great update, everything works perfectly, used on my payed for version of windows 10 pro 😀 Also decided to download the latest clean iso of windows 10 pro 64bit from there site as it contains all updates including anniversary update, so i can burn that to disk and use my product key with that now (still keeping bought disk though) 😀

Just posting this paranoia has already given Google tons of information without doing anything but connecting to the internet. Only way to prevent getting data mined is to get completely off the grid. Build your house as a giant Faraday Cage. Then insulate the house so that thermal imaging does not work. Do not have any kind of government issued id. Deal only in cash. How you get the cash will be interesting...cannot have a formal job. Only can hold handyman jobs. Do not forget, second one steps outside, Google has use of satellites that can track movement. Hermit time. Do not need to defend Microsoft. They are a baby at this game. Remember Microsoft are the operating system and can easily get around software settings for firewall and they don't even use the hosts file for their own servers either since they realised people were overriding their machines with dummy settings. So their spyware will and does still continue to phone home with your latest information.

That's why you use a hardware firewall. Windows has zero control over a hardware firewall.
