Please just look at what you have said about your 770s and now you buy Nvidia again , I myself is beginning to regreat the purchase of my 980 ti s , if i could have my time again, i would go for the fury x as i can bet you now my 980 ti's next year will be poo and the fury x will just keep getting better . Its time for a change guys ,, Nvidia's cards don't stand the test of time , if you don't mind upgrading every year well that's fine but i'm fed up it myself and what more for my money
That's how it goes. That 770 probably cost him 300€+ when he got it, 4GB version wear a price premium as well. Its barely pushing 25fps in latest games while his competitor is pushing double the frame rate. To be honest i would be pissed and reconsider what i would buy next.

Does the 4GB version get the same framerate as the 2?

If you take a look at the graph some of the cards above 770 (like 380) is 2GB card too. So im thinking extra Vram on such a card dosnt help a bit.

It would be awesome to see a cpu scaling analysis in these game reviews. 😀

The 380 has delta memory compression though, which AMD's own estimate is a 40% increase. I'd actually be curious to see a 770 (4GB) vs 950 vs 770 (2GB) benchmark.

Thank you HH! You did you best and beyond! Great perf. review! Reading the whole article was a nightmare, especially for NV. A 390X outperforming a 980Ti? Geezus!

280X once = 770. 280X = 780 since Maxwell launch. I think this year or next year 280X will have no problem to compete with 780 Ti. Kepler aged terribly.

GCN was underutilized. 280x is a 4.1tflop 3GB card, the 770 is a 3.2tflop 2GB card, they should have never been equal in the first place. I prefer to say GCN aged well, but I'm a glass is half full kind of guy.

Multi core perf was the plan, but I literally blew up my X99 motherboard. Two jumper pins from the X99 XPower AC motherboard got in contact with the PCI-Express graphics connector after I removed a SLI card (literally two pins touched two connector pins) the odds that happens is sooooo slim but ... poooof ... dead. Currently trying to get MSI send in a replacement unit ... 😱

ouch 🙁 also, don't you think that by looking at recommended specs, the results you got are really surprising?

R.I.P MSI X99 XPower AC. You served HH well. P.S: Maybe try and get MSI to send you the MSI X99A Godlike Gaming Carbon for a replacement so you can review it too? Its a win-win solution!

Some sites got full cards comparison on DX12 and AMD was far ahead even over overclocked 980ti, what could have happened on GURU3D? What a pitty one of the most important and most viewed sited not showing the full amd potential is rather sad, hope hilbert discover what have happened...

You can try reading the page where he literally describes what happened. Probably a good place to start.

Over 3.5 GB in VRAM on the GTX970 @ FHD. I wonder if there was a problem (stutter or similar) or the driver handles well the slow part of the VRAM.

Spread the words: R9 290/X is back. 🙂 Without this new DX12 trend(Async Compute) the Amd GCN could not ever be at the top of the charts with old cards.

Looks good...on DX11. "Fluid" experience on Nvidia. Nice! (didn't we see similar thing with GOW?) Yet, again we see DX12 isn't ready for prime-time despite all the hype. That win10 upgrade popped-up again last week...nah, I'll stick with W7 Ultimate 64bit for now. By the time I "upgrade" to win10 hopefully all these problems will be ironed-out. Progress takes time...

From what i´ve read around the web about DX12, all the hard work has been removed from the drivers makers (AMD&Nvidia) and placed on the shoulders of the games makers and now it´s up to them to optimize their games around different sets of hardware and GPUs generations and i can´t see happening... Companies already make ****ty games and ****ty ports because they don´t want to spend time and money making them as good as possible and now with DX12 they are being asked to optimize their games across different GPUs architectures because that´s the only way to extract all the possible performance from different GPUs... I can´t see thi ending well... And DX12 may end up being worse than DX11 or 10... I hope i´m wrong about this issue and if that´s the case, feel free to correct me fellow Gurus! By the way, can someone explain why suddenly Nvidia´s cards are being spanked silly by AMD???
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/259/259067.jpg
Because of drivers (Amd),compute,DX12.

Gaming is much smoother on Win10 than on 7.Note I said smoother not faster and I've yet to come across any "gamebreaking" or other annoying issues. On topic - Good review as always.Pascal/Polaris showdown is I what I'm most interested in.Just a side note/suggestion..as AMD's current hardware is finally starting to stretch their legs, I would love to see the PowerColor R9 390 Dual Core 16GB on these charts.Other sites did bench it of course but that was before these latest slew of games and DX11+ optimizations.
