When they say "the connection will not work" if connected in reverse, do they mean it wont function as an HDMI cable either? This added power feature has new wires+connectors, the original connections 'should' still all work as before.

Active Cables always had a proper direction they go, before or after this feature.

This should make utilizing active HDMI cables easier. In this manner, HDNMI cables can provide a bit of electricity.
