This "news" is a "Little" late.

There was un update yesterday, or the day before GTAV is running pretty good for me now. At the beginning it was a bit choppy, but its smoothed out a lot. I also just dicovered VSR/DSR. Its like SSAA, but without going full 2X. I have a native 1080p screen, and i play now in 1440p VSR/DSR. I'm using about 2.6GB ingame, 3.3GB GPU-Z VRAM. Going back to 1080p is now impossible. My eyes seemed to bleed afterwards at all the jaggies, even with FXAA. ๐Ÿ™‚ I think VSR/DSR takes less of a hit than MSAA, for what looks like a much better output.

Hmm I'll have to try it again tonight when I get home from work... when I tried playing on Sunday it was a stuttery mess. I was getting a HUGE amount of micro-stutter at 60Hz with V-Sync. Before that patch it was very smooth, so if this is another new patch that was released this morning. I'm hoping it fixed this problem.

I just did some tests with VSR/DSR at 3200x1800, with everything maxed out (FXAA on, advanced settings maxed, AMD CHS on), except MSAA, and motion blur, and DoF, both of which I don't like. SUrprisingly, it didn't dip below 22fps.went up to 28/29fps. I went on a bike ride from the vinewood sign, to the motorway, thru the city, then up north, to load some textures. Died crashing into a stationary object at the northernmost point of the map ๐Ÿ™‚ I love the real physics and ragdoll effects. Only got up to 3.7GB of VRAM used. It was still pretty smooth, even in the 20's. No sudden jerks at all. Its much nicer nearer 60fps though. ๐Ÿ™‚ I'm not sure you can get to more than 4GB used, without resorting to AA I mean. edit : I'll cntinue driving around a bit until I get bored, and see if I can get over 4GB used, or nearer to it.

It will never use all 4gb, cause then it doesnt have room to swap the info smoothly - if you do try to force it to use more vram, you will get huge stutters, when it needs to swap info in vram.

What i mean is, is it possible to use more than 4GB of VRAM, without using MSAA ? I tried again, and only got to 3823MB Max. Managed to go right around the map, and back into the city. I get 20's during the day, and low 40fps's at night. Will try with 2X and 4X MSAA and see if i can force it to go over deliberately, to see what happens.

In single player mode there isn't vram leak, but in Multiplayer Mode especially when you start switching different matches or the maps reload (after a mission) the leak is huge !. In my case start from 2300mb and goes up to 2950mb after 3 o 4hs.

Couldn't get GPU-Z to show more than 4017MB, even with 4X MSAA even with 2X it was stuttering like mad, and in the low teens. It was obviously swapping, but not until I added MSAA did it get choppy. I did notice an increase in VRAM usage after dying, higher than before dying.

If ram use stops increasing after some time, it's not a memory leak, it's just the way it's being allocated.

HardOCP has a review of their 980Ti up, and the VRAM usage page has this little bit, I quote :
"On the GeForce GTX 980 Ti we clearly exceed 4GB of VRAM in Dying Light at 1440p and 4K. We also exceed 4GB of VRAM at 4K in GTA V and Far Cry 4. What this shows is that these games, the GTX 980 cards "want to" and can, exceed the 4GB framebuffer if more VRAM is exposed. This means the 4GB of VRAM on the GTX 980 is limiting these cards, but it is not on the 6GB GeForce GTX 980 Ti."
