A strange thing with the 3090 in the AMD rig; at idle it showed idle clocks + 0% GPU use yet Afterburner said power % was 8% permanently and the fans spent 2/3 of the time on at low speed. Temps hovered around 40 to 42C. It appears to work fine except with Heaven benchmark. It would start loading from the config screen and then close just before it would display the loading graphics, no error. Sadly its no go with the Intel rig. The cmos was reset with the card in situ, it was just the same, QCode 53. The PSU from my AMD PC didnt help. My intel rig still works great with the 1080ti, I'm using it to type this. It appears to be time for a new PC for this gfx card. Whats really annoying, I've been hanging on for Rocketlake with this 6700K because it hasnt given any gaming issues. Only 1/2 a year to go and a new gfx cards stumps me, such bad timing. I dont want to buy a new PC just yet!

In past there have been problems similar to this one. It either needed new MB BIOS or new vBIOS for graphics. Sadly, I do not think that there is going to be enough people with combination of MB and graphics to reproduce issue and push either ASUS or nVidia to deliver fix. And one extra stupid idea. Can you try low refresh rate or low resolution screen? Or maybe HDMI instead of DP. (Or other way around than what you are using.) Maybe even attempt booting headless and connect screen after boot. You'll see status LED code anyway.

@Mufflore Hey, Is KSN-online.co.uk a good pc shop, or kind of problematic? I'm looking to buy one mobo from there. It's the cheapest by them, even with much higher shipping to my country.

I've not heard of them before, but most of Amazons traders are obscure. They appear to be new because they have only 6 Trustpilot reviews, yet have been trading for 10 years, a little odd. Their website is most basic and they appear to trade from a home address. You are protected by Amazon in the short term if you buy through them. The rating there is perfect for the last year at least, very few places have 100% positive feedback long term and they are close. Buying from abroad can make things more difficult if there is a problem. But they appear ok on the surface. What motherboard is it and how much do you save?

I see, thanks. I found them few times via geitzhals price comparison. It's independent from amazon, would buy directly from them. It's a MSI z490 carbon wifi mobo, was looking at unify, but then I saw it has no igpu connections and that could come in handy sometime. I would save 30e or so, guess I'll just stick with amazon then, maybe there will be another deal when I'm buying on saturday. 🙂

Yeah, its the most sensible option.
