These articles should all be called something like "Scalpers / Miners get ready! New 3080 incoming!"
Gamers in December 2021 will be like "member the days we could buy graphic cards?"

What issue could they have? The 3090 already uses the same configuration.
Hey I'm just wondering how they plan on fulfilling not only the 3080 back log but the demand for the future product. So it would be possible that they were holding back on stock because of some issue.

If is 20gb but no extra shaders, what performance should we expect? same?
If they're crazy enough to release one without more shaders, then yes the performance would be identical. I'd want 20GB just for peace of mind to know I can keep this thing for long enough to skip a generation (so 4 years), and to run some things outside of games which can eat tons of VRAM. But knowing how the market works, especially by the time it makes it to a country not named America, I wasn't willing to wait longer and pay a shit ton more for doubling my RAM. Honestly it feels so slimy that nVidia charge enough for their crap that it seems as if we're paying for 30GB only to end up with 10GB. I can't think of any other time I've ever downgraded my RAM capacity. That's absurd, upgrade 4 years later, 2 generations newer, lose 1GB of RAM. I was hoping so badly for AMD to be a viable option. I wonder if nVidia will sell another $175 million (USD) worth of these cards as well to mining farms directly. They've probably done far more than that 175 mil reported.

Trust me, just go with it, for gaming it's not going to be worth the wait and extra cost even if it does have more cores or whatever you want to call them. I had to pay for my ENTIRE order in advance. $1000 payment upfront, then I waited 6 weeks. Incidentally the price went up right after I ordered to $1039... these are all pre-tax prices too.

I pre ordered the same card on launch day and there was still no sign of it when I cancelled last week after finding a 3090 to buy. If I managed to get that 3080 I would have been happy as Larry and wouldnt care if something better came out. Its a great card and any memory shortage will not be large and is easily defeatable. Upgrade it in 2 yrs and have a mostly stellar experience until then! I am very happy with what I purchased, its going to last me 4 years but wasnt my first choice due to price. Though over 4 years its only a little more expensive than a 3080 pro rata, and is possible to actually own one! I wish you luck getting yours soon. ps you should be able to cancel a pre-order in full. In the same way you can return a card you dont want within the first short period. Ask them what they intend to do if you cancel the pre-order, then check your rights if the answer isnt satisfactory.

So...it could be worse - and I was scandalized about 20% in advance...and 3 weeks waiting period. I am kind of tempted to buy a 4k monitor and play games at native resolution so the extra memory would be nice to have in the long run.

You're right...both of you - I think that I am caught in the "I want it I need it" fever. Anyway I am happy that I found the rog oc card from asus - from reviews it should be one of the best even if expensive because you pay the asus rog tax .

I think its a typo fron the last rumor. Brace yourselves, there is no 3080 20gb.

there absolutely isn't,Undying.you're right. what I don't understand is the whining about just getting a 3080 10G. if 3080 20G was really coming,do you think that'd sell for $700 ? you'd probably pay a $200 premium for extra vram that'd you maybe use in one game in 4 years. if 10G is not enough, please point me to any review where nvidia's bandwidth approach to 4K loses to amd's vram capacity approach.

Many are looking at these as an investment for a few years and it could happen in the future. Vram capacity could play the role here but not today. 20gb 3080 would give the peace of mind you know.

then treat like a personal whim I don't understand people. consoles are targeting 4K and 120 fps. an 8/16 ryzen 3000 is now a must for people cause consoles, but the same consoles come equipped with 10g ddr6 vram and that somehow justifies 10 g6x being not enough. What had to happen with 4 core cpus and 3/4g video cards already happened. This is not a gradual process where your gpu will need 0.5G more every quarter.
