This is annoying. Human greed at it's best. Filth. Can't wait for the current crytocurrency bubble to burst.

On PC Case Gear cards are starting to having "Limit 4 per household" for Nvidia cards and "limited 1 per household" for AMD cards. Every single 570 and 580 is gone... literally everything is gone... ****ing Bitcoin.
http://i.imgur.com/UcLEArh.png
They seriously need to nerf the bitcoin capabilities of the next generation cards and release special crypto mining cards if they to sell on that specific market. The prices are crazy and few stores have stock atm. This is bad. We had the RAM prices double and now the graphics cards. It's nightmare for anyone on a tight budget who wants to do an upgrade now.

Month ago or so you could buy cheapest GTX10606GB at 275E now it's hard to find at 345E.... (or even impossible). Got my MSI 1060 Gaing X 2 months ago for 320E, now it cost 370E :O

Just ordered 6 MSI 1070 for 467 Euro for mining. Goddamn capitalism increasing my RoI, who do I punch to fix this? > Human greed at it's best Sensible chuckle at all the butthurt nocoiners in this thread.

i have tried... but it's no more profitable... energy cost and increasing bank that don't want mining money (and country where it is illegal)... no more for me

If things couldn't get any worse. Where is that specific graphics card that was geared towards this sort of thing? I remember Hilbert talking about it back around the 290/X when there were like 6months to a year old or so.

There was talk of such a card back during the r9 290/X era not sure what happened.

Combination of ASICs and Mt. Gox imploding. The newer currencies like ETH are purposely made ASIC unfriendly, so it makes more sense now for the GPU companies to tailor cards specifically for mining. I think most rumors point to the Nvidia ones coming out within a few weeks. Supposedly they do 22MH/s @ 65w. Also the reason why there is starting to be more of a shift to Nvidia GPU's is this: http://cryptomining-blog.com/8822-ethereum-hashrate-drop-for-radeon-rx400rx500-gpus-is-incoming/ Along with a few articles recently showing the efficiency of the 1060 when tweaked.

Me too, sold my r9 270x in the 25 may and then realised all RX570 were sold out. I've been waiting since. Can't wait to see these folks cry about thousands of dollars lost in hardware. When all these cards hit the second hand market I'll laugh at them very hard!

I would write an offensive comment here, but I'll wait for karma to get back at you. MODERATOR: Please watch your language okay?

I'm pretty sure this is due to Ethereum and Litecoin, not due to Bitcoin. Mining bitcoin on your GPU hasn't been profitable for a while now. These 2 altcoins have gained considerable ground in the past months, especially Ethereum. It's different in principle but it scales well, unlike Bitcoin. Bitcoin actually **** the bed really hard lately, so much that Ethereum has had major drops. The whole e-coin market is unstable because of it.

If anyone really thinks that he can be profitable in BitCoin mining using ANY GPU, then he is either completely ignorant or crazy. BitCoin is now fully in hands of dedicated miners like Ants, which can do THs/s for a fraction of power consumption. With a GPU you will earn a few cents a week at most, which is less than you power bill. Other cryptocurrencies will follow soon, so buying GPU for this purpose is waste o money. What I really would like to see is performance of NVIDIA's tensor cores. But I doubt they would be even close to dedicated HW.
People use bitcoin as a catch-all for all coin operations, it's annoying but that's what happens with generic terms. ASIC hardened cryptocurrencies won't follow "Bitcoin" itself because their mining algorithms are designed specifically for GPUs. The ASIC would essentially have to be a better GPU.

TBH, the most important thing is inventory for both AMD and Nvidia is being sold, clearing the way for the next generation. You're also going to see these guys dump loads of these cards back into the 2nd hand market, so, it's not all bad news.

I should have used the word cryptocurrency...

There won't be a lot of life in them though - unfortunately working 24/7 takes its toll :/

I worry that these people might start buying up the next series of cards as well :\.

second hand gpus also demand a almost same price as new retail so why bother waiting for used cards. Resell of used parts as of late the last few years is just nutz.

Easy to scoff at the people mining, but my GTX1080 is giving me one ZCash every 30 days, which is valued currently at £320 Electricity is costing me around £30 a month, so it is worth it. The price of the coin is rising too Easy to do, so i don't know why anyone wouldn't Come Xmas i might have 5-6 coins, potentially valued above £500 each If they end up being worth nothing, it's not exactly cost me an arm and a leg

Look, if the latest thing comes and you weren't ready to pre-order/buy, then, it doesn't matter anyway. If you want something in this day and age, just do it man. I got in early with GTX1070 and Switch, no regrets tbh. I haven't got time to f*** about.
